Our friends over at Hungama have published the list of the “Most Awaited movies of 2010” after a 12 day long poll with more than 1.75 lakh votes registered.
Here’s the list
Some observations
- The results are quite obvious, the Shahrukh Khan – Kajol pairing along with the strong following that Karan Johar commands overseas, has done the trick. Name Is Khan has received the maximum votes, with Hrithik Roshan’s Kites a close second.
- Hrithik Roshan has two movies in the Top 3, both his 2010 releases have made it to Top 5 list wordwide – proves yet again, the enormous fan following of the man.
- Salman Khan is next with Veer making it to the No 2 in UK, overall settles for the No 4 spot.
- Ra 1 strangely has performed pretty poorly, No 5 in UK – No 6 in US – No 7 in India.
- What’s even stranger is Akshay Kumar’s position in the list, down at No 8 below Raavan and Raajneeti.
- Unlike the last two years Aamir Khan has no biggie this year, instead he has a small budget film Dhobi Ghaat at No 10.
Overall, My Name Is Khan, Kites and Guzaarish are the biggest movies of the year as Shahrukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan battle it out at the box office. Salman’s only release this year (most probably) is Veer, which releases tomorrow.
2010 will also be a very important year for Akshay, with more than 3 films lined up for release.
