Mohenjo Daro has posted shockingly low numbers on its opening day at the box office. The first day collections are lower than much smaller films like Udta Punjab and Baaghi.
The Friday numbers have pretty much decided the box office fate of the film. It would need growth of 40-50% on Saturday to have any chance of recovering costs, but even that looks unlikely now as the film has shown drops at a few single-screen centres and multiplex business in the morning was at around the same level as Friday.
It’s difficult to see where the film goes from here. With such low opening numbers, only a miracle can save it from becoming one of the biggest disappointments of Hrithik Roshan’s career.
Clash or not, there was simply no interest amongst the audience to watch Mohenjo Daro on the big screen. Films like Bombay Velvet, Mohenjo Daro and to a certain extent even FAN – prove that irrespective of how big a star is, they are not bigger than the films they appear in. If the choice of films isn’t good enough and the promos are unexciting, the audience can even reject a film from the makers of ‘Jodhaa Akbar’.
Will Mohenjo Daro beat the 63 crore total of the 8-year-old Jodhaa Akbar, which was banned in 3 major states? Even that remains uncertain at the moment.

According to boxofficeindia the first day collection record belong to prem ratan dhan payo…40 crore,while all other sites like indicine,koimoi,boxofficecapsule are saying that first day collection record belongs to happy new year.
Which is correct?

Whenever some so called superstar’s movie flops, his fans try to remember us marigolds, main aur mrs khannas, etc… We, The Salmaniacs understand that you have to hang on something to handle your suffer.
But everyone who holds Indicine’s reply should know something; when your superstar can give back to back blockbusters, two 300 cr plus and a 200 cr plus movies just in one year period, back to back bumper openings, etc, you will forget your marigolds and main aur mrs khannas too, i promise. :)

@xzone- yes sir salman was having a really pathetic time during the 2000’s.. professional n personal life both in turmoil.. the court cases, the bad boy image abused to pieces by the press n the media.. his movies becoming disasters n failing to take initials.. a kind of dark n low phase never witnessed by any actor.. whereas his contemporaries took a big leap only salman was left behind.. all was thought to be finished n done n dusted for salman.. but what was striking his popularity never took a beating despite flops n constant negativity about him in the media.. he had no big banners n directors during this decade.. all he had was some mediocre directors with mediocre production values.. then films for family n friends hurt him more n not to forget cameos galore.. but despite this he was still the most popular actor along with srk who was during peak of his career.. then came dus ka dum.. people say wanted is the turning point of salman.. I beg to differ.. it was dus ka dum which brought out the real salman to the audience.. all the notions of bad boy were washed away.. he instantly connected to a larger segment of the audience beyond his fanbase.. then with correct films at the correct time all changed n he took a leap from superstardom to megastardom.. people say srk is going through a rough patch but I beg to differ again.. he is in not going through a bad patch but is failing to match the standards set by salman n is looking pale in comparison.. even during his low phase srk is having the likes of rohit shetty, imtiaz ali, anand l rai, adi chopra n many more to support him but whereas salman had none during his.. that’s a striking difference.. a comeback made all by himself n now he is calling the shots!

Honestly speaking, as a Bollywood audience view, Mohenjo-Daro is a entertaining movie. I enjoyed thoroughly and didn’t miss any moment. Two things that puts against are
1. There are no songs like tang uthake, babe ko base pasand hae, 449 volt etc
2. As truelg said on earlier comment, fans of salman, shahrukh are deliberately shouting loud for rustom. As they are scared of hrithik’s power hence writing negative comments. Wtf

Remember SRK ask them to shift dates was refused so he had to think of another plan to get his solo release. Too much a coincidence to be a coincidence.
