As part of #IndicineLBO, where we predict the lifetime collections of Bollywood films, here’s our final prediction of Salman Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan.
Reasons why we feel the film could topple the record of Dhoom 3 and have a chance at becoming only the second film to cross the 300 crore mark
- Extraordinary word-of-mouth: Bajrangi Bhaijaan has received universal acclaim and the response is probably better than Salman’s 2010 film Dabangg. Vast majority of people who have watched the film have liked it. In short, Bajrangi Bhaijaan has everything in its favour to become one of the biggest grossers of all time.
- Two open weeks: Bajrangi Bhaijaan has two open weeks at the box office, after which Ajay Devgn’s Drishyam is scheduled to hit screens. Assuming that the film collects around 170-175 crore in Week 1 and the drop in the second week is around 60-65% (due to the WOM), the Kabir Khan film should collect somewhere around 235-240 crore before ‘Drishyam’.
Reasons why we feel the PK record is out of reach
- Holidays: Along with extra-ordinary word-of-mouth, PK also benefitted from plenty of holidays in its second week. 7th day was a national holiday for Christmas and quite a few schools, colleges, companies remain shut during the days leading to New Year. That’s exactly why Christmas has been the most lucrative period for film business in India in the last 4-5 years, along with the ‘trust’ that the audience have in Aamir Khan films.
- Controversy: All publicity is good publicity! News channels were discussing and dissecting PK right from the second day of its release. Free publicity, which also helped the box office collections of the film.
- Tax Free: Although late in its 2nd week, PK was declared tax free in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and West Bengal.
- Repeat value: Does Bajrangi Bhaijaan hold the same repeat value as PK? We are not quite sure. There is something about Rajkumar Hirani films, that they get better with repeat-viewing. The more you watch his films, the more you enjoy them.

As an accountant by profession one would think I would be interested in the amount of money the film makes but whether it make 1 crore or 300 crore that’s not so important for me where this film is concern, its the content etc it is one of the most awesome films I have ever seen, it speaks to the heart and soul and if we want to make this a better place where we live we should try to emulate the message of the film and not get too caught as to whether it will beat this or that movie. Take to heart what you have seen and go run with it and bless others as you do.
Box Office India Trade Network40Bajrangi Bhaijaan is doing historic business on Sunday and challenging for the biggest day in the history of Indian cinema Till date the highest collections ever for a single day are the 38.25 crore nett of PK and Bajrangi Bhaijaan has a chance to surpass these numbers.The film has jumped huge in Gujarat on Sunday and that is where it was under performing and now with historic North India collections and Gujarat coming on board the sky will be the limit for the film.

1. Well 90% of Srk fans won’t like that comment u passed that d clash is going to be a disadvantage!! Go to BM trailer and see how confident d dudes were eida saying “BRING IT ON!” SLB “MAKING BIGGEST MISTAKE OF HIS LIFE!” “KING KHAN IS KING OF CLASH with long lists and analysis of clashes DATING BACK TO 1995 to SOS(no one bought this one though).” So don’t spoil their party with a demoralizing comment cos for neutrals it’s logical that had BB not made such impact..U guys would never post that comment about CLASH being a disadvantage.
2. No one will doubt d huge star casts of Dilwale..Srk Kajol Varun. all having 6 100 crores movies between them srk 5 var 1. Kajol is no longer kajol of d past she is now Mrs Kajol Devgn! Her talent will never be a doubt but face it Varun n srk are d current box office players.
Don’t forget now ..Ranveer Peecee Deepika are all non holiday high gro@sing celebs. They havee 8 100 crores between them compared to Dilwale 6 100 crores. Currently they are d current players of box office all of them. But yeah it’s a srk movie n rohit d director so obviously one will still bet on Dilwale but no way will it emerge highest grosser 2015 just cos of that clash!
Sometimes d star casts are deceptive @indicine. Am quite show using star cast director promotions and assessing a movie callked hny was d favourite for 2014 with star casts of d movies having about 9 100 crores movies between them srk 4 deep 3 absk 2. But wat happened despite star casts promotions and release dates?? Instead Salman kick single handedly emerged winner over Huge star casts HNY while Aamir single handedly toppled Huge star casts Hny with pk. Both movies with average box ofc lead females for kick that’s wen I even knew a Sri lankan called Jaq fernandz.
I thought last year outcome of a huge multi star movie HNY of not guaranteeing highest grosser lessons were learnt by u guys but seems not.

Dilwale will still be the Highest Grosser of the year(HGOT) as BM along with the low star cast value,has the genre not liked by many.
If clash on Dec 2015 is tend happen anyway,SRK knows how to finish the competition.His fierce marketing will leave only a few people to have interest in BM.
SLB has got an ego problem,we know even the star-cast of BM doesn’t want to clash with SRK.
Not just because they are afraid about the influence it may have on their career,but also because they respect SRK.

( with manipulation ) highest 1st day collection still it collected just 200 cr ( with manipulation ) . The major factor for the movies boxoffice prospects is wom and stardom. No doubt salman has biggest stardom today all over indian … But this time movie also has strong content with great word of mouth .. Thats whya BB has sure chance to become 300cr grosser movie.
Although I am HUGE SRK FAN but I never really disliked Salman(story is different with salman fans though).
Watching salman breaking records and stuff garners appreciation only as reviews tell the movie is content based.
I really wld request @indicine to post aamir khan reaction about BB out on youtube.. indicine hasnt even mentioned his tweets bout BB..I think aamirs reactions shd be posted coz its a big deal!!.. it cld help in reducing hatred from atleast aamir fans if tbey respect their star!!
First day shows starpower and king khan rules with unbeatable 44 cr. which will this criminal khan will never achieve.
BB will surely break Dhoom3 record, but breaking PK rcord is very difficult. Two reasons for it
1 : PK had slightly better WOM then BB
2 : PK had huge advatage of christmas holidays in its second week which BB does not have

Nice prediction by Indicine. I think BB will crush Dhoom 3’s record but PK’s record is out of reach. There’s a huge tsunami in the name of Brothers arriving at the box office. It’s going to be Akshay’s 3rd success film of 2015.
