As the industry awaits the release of ‘Baadshaho’ in a couple of days from now, the director of the film, Milan Luthria, has said the concept of larger-than-life dramas has reduced in the Hindi Film Industry.
The filmmaker also said the ‘machoism’ of on-screen heroes, ‘nazakat’ (elegance) of heroines and fear of villains has diluted.
“Drama has reduced. Heroes’ machoism, heroines’ nazakat and the fear of villains have been diluted… International cinema is also going towards period drama, it is larger than life, it appeals to me personally” Luthria said.
When asked why his film has been set in the ’emergency era’ of the 70s, the director said the audience looks only at the story and not the period in time where the film has been set.
“Audience don’t look at the period that the film is set in, but at the story.. I don’t have a fixation with the period. It (Baadshaho’s era) is a coincidence” he said.
‘Baadshaho’ narrates a fictional story of six people who try to bring a change in their destiny by pulling of a heist. The film stars Ajay Devgn, Emraan Hashmi, Esha Gupta and Ileana D’Cruz.
