Ki and Ka is set to emerge a big winner at the box office, as the film has sustained very well on its 2nd weekday. In the last couple of years, the ‘Tuesday test’ has become as important as the ‘Monday test’, because quite a few films have fallen by 20% on Tuesday from Monday.
The strong hold of Ki and Ka on Tuesday will also give exhibitors the confidence to retain a healthy number of shows at multiplexes. The film has struck a chord with women across the country and it’s the fairer sex that are coming out in big numbers to watch the film.
With Rs 32 crore already in the bank, Ki and Ka will end Week 1 with net box office collections of around 37.5 – 38 crore. Without any competition from Hindi films this weekend, Ki and Ka has the potential to show big growth in its second weekend. There is a holiday on Friday in parts of the country for Ugadi (Karnataka, Kerala, Maharastra, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamilnadu and Uttar Pradesh). It’s also a holiday for Cheti Chand in Gujarat.
Meanwhile, the success of Ki and Ka has given a huge boost to Arjun Kapoor’s career. The actor was held responsible for the failure of ‘Tevar’ and a section of the trade had written off Ki and Ka too. The casting (Arjun – Kareena) was considered to be a misfit and the film wasn’t expected to do a lot more than 35-40 crore.
The audience though have come out in big numbers to watch the film right from Day 1. The opening was above expectations, the film showed decent growth over the weekend and has now remained rock-steady on Monday and Tuesday too. The lifetime total will be in excess of Rs 50 crore.

Arjun Kapoor is a hard working guy one should understand they guy who was 120-kgs and above now look at him it is never easy to loss weight, Fan following for him is from first movie ISHAQZADE acting ability is good as well so all the best to Arjun for upcoming movies.

Arjun deserves lots of credit. He was written off completely. Now looking at few of his movies.. I must say among the young guns after Ranveer and Ranbir Arjun did more critical acclaimed movies than the rest. Okay I learnt he was not so close with his Dad so how did he “pass the mark ” to be considered playing some hard movies.
Ishaqzaade….he played his character really well. My intention before was to only watch “meh pareshan ” song when d movie was on Sony max.. After the song I just had to follow the movie to the end and to date..the title track “Ishaqzaade ” is on every gadget of mine!
Auragzeb…. Critics highly praised his character. A trade pundit from Koi moi said “Arjun Double role was a double treat. He and Rishi kapoor stood out.”
I still don’t believe in @indicine verdict for Auragzeb.. It was never a flop.. The imdb rating was a healthy 6.6 and some sites rated it average grosser minimum. Collection was more than budget too. Will confirm once am chanced again.
Ki and ka.. Risky.. If anything negative favoured this movie opening n weekend could have been a wash out. How many actors would want to play this role knowing any other flop will really tarnish their image?
Again looking more info Arjun career…. This guy is never scared sharing screen with bigger stars even veteran. His confident level is what trips me the most. Be it a Rishi, Dimple Priyanka Nasser, Kareena he won’t shy away. He plays a goon, urban lover, coal thief, arrogant underworld, wifey husband….success ratio superseding movies done..what else?
Am not here to praise nor his fan….I just wanted sharing my take on Arjun esp the negativity that was surrounding him.. Yes he and Ranveer messed up in AIB controversy but if Ranveer is forgiven and people have started paying more attention to his onscreen business not off screen then why not Arjun? Am taking him more serious now and must say I am really impressed with him.

Coming to Aurangzeb, it was a flop. And coming to critical acclaim,except ishaqzaade & finding fanny none of Arjun films can b considered as ‘critically acclaimed’ films. 2 states got mixed reviews and Ki&ka has recieved -ve to avg reviews

On sunday @indicine posted abt Ki n ka recovering 40 percent investment and after the weekend , it recovered 60 percent .that is.25cr out of 40cr…
Which means budget is 40cr.. So how can it be a HIT if it still hasn’t recovered the budget..

My question is how is the film made in 20cr with a top actress like Kareena , Big b and other cast. How is thw cost so low considering it was promoted on a large scale on TV and print media.
Also how is the film profitable for distributors if it does 40cr-45cr if it is made on 32cr-35cr budget which itself sounds suspiciously low. !?

This is the last time i am replying to your remark.
I never assumed ‘Ki and Ka’ did badly or something, I just remarked Friday to Monday drop was more than normal and I stand by it. As per my understanding good hold is somewhere less than 50% drop for Multiplex oriented film and less than 45% for SS oriented (unless Friday was holiday). However movie sustained really well Tuesday onwards.
So take is easy mate.
