Kapoor & Sons has performed very well in its first weekend at the box office. The film opened well on Friday, showed decent growth in business inspite of the big cricket match between India – Pakistan and showed huge growth in business on Sunday.
The percentage of growth from Friday to Sunday is 72%, which also means the film have found acceptance amongst its target audience.
Since most of the business is coming from multiplexes in major cities, Kapoor & Sons will be affected by the drop in ticket prices during the weekdays, even though the occupancy drop on Monday morning was less than 15% from Friday.
Thursday is a holiday in parts of the country for Holi, so business could pick up on the last day of its first week for Kapoor & Sons.
Competition in the second weekend will come from the Hollywood film ’Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice’, which releases this coming weekend in theatres. John Abraham’s Rocky Handsome is also scheduled to release, but the target audience of that film is completely different from Kapoor & Sons.
Family audience will be the key if the Shakun Batra directed film has to gross big.
