Kaabil Day 2 (Thursday) Box Office Collection Update

Hrithik Roshan’s Kaabil has collected Rs 10.43 crore on its opening day at the box office, which includes collections from Tamil and Telugu versions. The film under-performed on Day 1 all across the country, with the competing with Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees affected business both at single-screens and multiplexes.

Kaabil simply did not have the promos to match upto the might of Raees, which was carrying incredible pre-release buzz.

Moving on to the more positive side of things, Kaabil has shown huge growth in business on Thursday morning. The holiday advantage is usually around 35-40%, but the morning shows on Thursday, ranged from 100 to 500% growth at some places from Wednesday morning.

The occupancy was quite low last morning and there was growth evening onwards, but as per early trends the film should be able to – quite easily – cross the 15 crore mark on Day 2. However, there is the big cricket match in the evening, which should have a small impact on business of both films.

Because of the slow start, the trend over the weekend is going to be extremely important for a film like Kaabil. It has to show big growth today, hold to Day 1 levels tomorrow and then peak on Saturday and Sunday. If that doesn’t happen the film will struggle to recover costs.
