In less than 10 days from now, the biggest Bollywood movie so far this year will hit screens worldwide. Shah Rukh Khan returns 4 months after Rohit Shetty’s Dilwale, with a film that is touted to give him the scope to showcase his on-screen histrionics.
A week before FAN, we have a Hollywood fantasy film ‘The Jungle Book’ that is gearing up for a big release. There is quite a bit of interest to watch the film at big centres, both for the youth who will watch it for nostalgia as well as kids.
Disney UTV has gone out to promote the film in India and will give a wide release on around 1600 screens. The film will release in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu across three formats – 2D, 3D and IMAX. Even Priyanka Chopra, who has lent her voice to the film, has been promoting it on social media.

Disney India’s vice president Amrita Pandey was confident that the film would do well in India.
“For most of us, Jungle Book is a part of our childhood. While the kids today might not have seen it, there is an entire generation that grew up watching Mowgli as a cartoon. In India, the film has a great potential and we see a wider net to cast in terms of audiences. This film will appeal to people from four years and 80 years” she said.
“The title song from the DD show is iconic and we used it not only in the Hindi version of the film, but also as a marketing tool. The song was re-created and released a while ago, and it has got very good response. For the Hindi (dubbed) version of the film, we have managed to rope in some of the most recognised voices — Priyanka Chopra (Ka), Om Puri (Bagheera), Irrfan Khan (Baloo), and Shefali Shah (as Raksha)” she added.

Jungle Book is one of the keenly awaited Hollywood movies in India…there is quite a bit of nostalgic feel for it especially for the 80s kids (which I am also part of) who patiently waited for the Jungle Book in DD those days. With Jon Favreau directing the film this one has to be good.
That’s a wise decision as “Clash with an SRK film” won’t only affect them in India, but also in overseas. Star wars is the most recent example (as it was hit badly by Dilwale storm in overseas , specially in gulf).
So it’s better to prepone or postpone the movie by a week instead of going ahead with a direct face-off with “Global Megastar”.

Remember watching the cartoon (English version) long time back (probably sometime during 1990s) and thoroughly enjoying it.
A clash avoided is always good for both movies and in this case particularly for the Jungle Book as otherwise it would not have gotten such a wide release. 1600 screens is quite a decent number.
Initially both Kabali and Jungle Book were probably releasing on April 15th but now happy that Fan is getting a solo release.
Stage is all set for Fan. All that needs to be seen now is that will it actually deliver (content wise) what it has been promising? We will find that out on April 15th.
I dont know about the Jungle book show in Dhooradarshan. In kerala the craze for the movie is altoghether in another level nd i was addicted to jungle book stories in “Balarama” (a weekly that is must for every child in kerala just like how a newspaper is important to people)I used to buy the weekly till my Sslc exam. The important thing is that every one is aware of the release of the film nd most of them is interestedto watch the film in theatre despite the back to back release of big movies(bcz its a festive season called “vishu” just like how much Eid xmas diwali is important for bollywood films)luking at the buzz for the movie inKerala the movie can record the best opening for a hollywood movie and it can become one of the highest grossing hollywood films in kerala like Furious 7(8.5cr) nd Jungle book(7.5cr).The problem will be the outstanding run of two films Kali, King liar nd another big movies (Jacobinte swargarajyam,Theri, FAN)is also going to release in the same period.
Will watch it but the English version .

Srk is a street level star now.
Well yes it is a nostalgic moment because we 90s kids are well aware of the theme of this film and also the ‘Jungle Jungle’ song..but the only film that I’m excited for this month is one and only FAN.. The trailer was excellent and promises to be an edge of the seat emotional thriller..Also,we fans are expecting a master class performance from Shahrukh Khan which was missing in this decade..hence,sorry team-The Jungle Book..

@Aki 6:56 pm : Dilwale was ahead of BM if we take worldwide collections into consideration and any way, I was talking about the fate of a Hollywood movie (when it clashes with an SRK movie) and not about any Bollywood movie.
Despite of star wars and BM, Dilwale took the best opening in gulf. So it proves that makers of a Hollywood movies can’t afford a clash with an SRK film, because it won’t only hit them in India but also in other countries including Arabs, Pakistan and UK/US till some etxtent.

Next, if struggling with a clash makes someone street level star, then I guess your bhabhijan should be honored with none other than a “Gutter level” star award, because we all know, bhabhijan is the only superstar who has lost almost all her clashes , including a clash with 2 film old Ranbir Kapoor.
So we don’t have to take lessons on “Clashes” at least from bhabhijan fans.
