Jai Gangaajal has collected Rs 5.5 crore on its opening day at the box office, which is average collections for a film released on more than 2600 screens in India. The film has performed fairly well at select centres in North India, but business remained dull throughout the day at multiplexes.
There was hope that Priyanka Chopra’s foray into Hollywood films and her constantly being in news, could increase the footfalls at multiplexes, but that wasn’t the case on Day 1 as the occupancy remained low through the day.
Saturday is crucial for all films, as it’s on this day of the week that business picks up at multiplexes. Jai Gangaajal has to show growth in the range of 20-30% to have any chance of recovering costs, more so because the multiplex business was at very low levels on Friday.

Honestly, it looked like a b-grade/bhojpuri film and just a rehash of previous cop films so the low 1st day and poor response is no surprise.

The opening day collections are not bad but I don’t think JG will work at the Box Office because the WOM is negative . @ Indicine Post the total collections and verdicts of Airlift, Sanam Teri Kasam, GOA, Sanam Re, Fitoor, Loveshuddha, Aligarh and Tere Bin Laden : Dead or Alive .
