At the beginning of 2015, we started a new feature to accurately predict the opening day business of Hindi films. In the last 8 months or so, we have correctly predicted the collections of 24 out of 30 major movies released this year.

- Detective Byomkesh Bakshy: Our Prediction 4.5 cr: Actual Collection 4.25 cr
- Ek Paheli Leela: Prediction 5.25 cr: Collection 5.3 cr
- Gabbar Is Back: Prediction 13 cr: Collection 13.05 cr
- Piku: Prediction 5.5 cr: Collection 5.32 cr
- Welcome To Karachi: Prediction 1.5 cr: Collection 1.5 cr
- Brothers: Prediction 15.5 cr: Collection 15.2 cr
- Manjhi: Prediction 1.4 cr: Collection 1.4 cr
In fact, the only movies that we wrongly predicted were either box office disaster or unexpected blockbusters. NH10 was probably the only exception. Take a look
- Hawaizaada: We expected the film to take a poor opening of 1.25 cr, but the opening was disastrous at 60 lakhs.
- Roy: Ranbir Kapoor returned after a year and a half with a special appearance in Roy. T-Series marketed the film very well and the music was a massive hit too. Prediction 8.5 cr, Actual collection 10.4 cr.
- NH10: The prediction wasn’t completely off, but inaccurate nonetheless. The margin for error is very small for films that collect less than 5 crore. We predicted 2.75 cr, NH 10 collected 3.35 cr.
- Bombay Velvet: It was impossible to predict this. Besharam opened at 20 crore plus, so we went with what we thought was the worst case scenario for Bombay Velvet – Rs 9.5 cr. After all, even Roy took a 10 crore plus opening. This was made on a much higher budget and had a much bigger star cast too. The opening was shocking to say the least.
- Tanu Weds Manu Returns: We weren’t too off the mark with this one either, but Tanu Weds Manu Returns not opening took a very good opening, but was also the biggest surprise blockbuster of 2015.
- Bangistan: Was a huge disaster right from the morning shows on Friday. The opening was worse than another Excel Entertainment disaster Game starring Abhishek Bachchan! Says it all, doesn’t it?

In last 3years any mass entertainer of akki not collected less then 13cr in non holiday. Or phir S.i.b to national holiday pe realise hoga.
But ur lifetime predictions r goin more inaccurate now with bigger films eg: brothers, Bajrangi bhaijaan etc.. even ur predictions after the opening r being inaccurate.. BB u said 250 b4 release and after opening n reviews u said 285 and it collects aroung 320!!.. Brothers b4 release u said 125-130 and after opening weekend n reviews u predicted 103 but its gonna end near 90!! These r just two recent xamples.. Twmr was a big surprise so its understood that every1 got it wrong!!

@Indicine Are you being serious? I mean a mere 12.8 crores for Singh is Bling? Considering its hype and movies like gabbar and holiday crossing 12 crores without even a holiday; Singh is bling releasing on 2nd october a big massy film of Akshay Kumar I can already tell this prediction of yours will fall completely flat! It’ll be housefull all over Delhi, CI, Punjab and will easily touch 18-20 crores.

@Challa even if Rohitwaale gets solo release it will take less than 25 Cr opening. And with clash no cjamce to get more than 20 Cr opening. Forget 25 or 30 Cr.

@Chain Smoker : HNY was released on full fledge holiday hence it did 40+ opening. BTW Salman has already given a 32+ with ETT in 2012 check before you bark !!!!!!!! Wait & watch if PRDP releases on same day as HNY it will certainly beat HNY opening & weekend records. Dilwale is releasing on a working day with BM clash anything more than 25 crs will be excellent but no chance of even 30 crs opening !!!!!!!!!!
@indicine I have also looked up to your site, but I have only one complain. You very rarely post news articles regarding Aamir khan as compared to other khans srk and salman khan. Even akshay’s news are more posted than aamir khan? May I know why? Isn’t that biasness’? And aamir khan is currently biggest global superstar. He is biggest star in India as well as overseas. So why do you rarely post articles releted to him?
