When it comes to predicting the first day collections of Bollywood movies released in 2015, #IndicineFBO predictions have always been accurate. But even when it comes to inaccurate predictions, the difference percentage wasn’t too high.
Unfortunately, with Bombay Velvet we didn’t even get close to getting it right. Our predictions were 45% higher than the first day collections of the film.
While there were fears of a disastrous opening, not a single trade source that we spoke to, expected the film to take a 5 crore opening. For a film released on 2600 screens, the screen average of Bombay Velvet is lower than a film like Shamitabh and Detective Byomkesh Bakshi!
Interestingly, only two predictions of major films have gone wrong this year and both featured Ranbir Kapoor.

You must have predicted somewhere close to 5.5 to 6 cores. But den you were not wanting to hurt Ranbir’s fan base by predicting so low..
@Fake, we wanted to go with 7 – 7.5 crore. But then decided to go with 9.5 crore because the official figures are a little on the higher side (which is why we got Roy wrong) and secondly, it was a 2600 screen release!
But 5 crore range. No, not expected at all. Collections are shocking almost all over. This was meant to go wrong!

Making a not-so-mass-friendly film with 110 crores budget and average content is nothing, but a foolishness. Even multiplex audience will stay away due to the average reviews and negativity across Internet and social media.

Indicine you may be wrong next week when TWM returns releases.
Kangana has great popularity nowadays and national award winning actress can surprise one and all. TWM return may well get a 10cr opening and may even become first 100cr grosser of 2015.
Makers should be blamed for this extremely poor collection.
BV is Joker of 2015. Joker opening day was similar to BV. Life Time B.O. will be same. After Akshay Kumar now Ranbir Kapoor has also started contributing towards Swachh Box-Office Abhiyaan. Ranbir Kapoor will become Akshay Average Kumar of New Generation. SAD.
HAK will get similar opening to Gabbar

By looking at the first day collections i think it will finish with collections under 30 CR . It will be the biggest flop in Ranbir’s career and will beat Saawariya . This year has been the worst year for Box Office in a long time . I think BV will be out theatres in the next week . Tanu Weds Manu Returns is looking like a solid entertainer . Its trailer and songs have picked up well and after the success of Queen she has become extremely popular . Also it is a sequel and the first movie was also appreciated and was a success . So overall the month of May is very good for Box Office except BV . I don’t think TWMR will be flop unless it is extremely terrible and that looks tough . It is directed by Anand L. Rai who has given Tanu Weds Manu and Raanjhanaa .
