Badlapur releases in theatres tomorrow and the film is carrying good pre-release reports. Varun Dhawan’s last few films have opened well at the box office – Student Of The Year (7.5 crore), Main Tera Hero (6.6 crore) and Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania (9.1 crore).
While all his films so far have been light-hearted entertainers for audience of all age groups, Badlapur has been passed by the censor board with ‘Adult’ rating. Sex, violence and blood, could restrict opening day footfalls.
We expect the film to collect Rs 6.5 crore on Day 1 and then grow depending on how well the Sriram Raghavan film is received by the audience.

I expect around 6crs on day 1..but it will grow due to good WOM as it is getting rave reviews..

Screen =2500 so Max 1st day potential = 25 Crore Opening of ROY was 30% Baby 25% Tever 21% so realistically with non commercial dark theme we can expect 15% opening and with good word of mouth average occupancy day one = 19% so first day = 4.65 (25*19%)….max life time if best possible trend= 4.65×9=42 Crores. It requires 41Crore for semi Hit and 47 Crore for Hit.
It will open tomorrow with 40% occupancy, and it will definitely pick up well on evening shows and Saturday will be better than Friday but Sunday because of India and South Africa match it could be dangerous for Badlapur, i hope that movie will cross 80 crore mark and become the first Blockbuster of Varun Dhawan’s Career.

low budget movie so more chance to get clean hit even if it only earn 50 cr above and also no exciting movies are coming next week so easy to earn hit status
The budget have always played a big role in Varun’s movies.Considering the costs it would be an average even in worst case

Badlapur got great critics report so far,I hope it will be remain same when other reviews come.Badlapur should be first hit of 2015, Varun is my favorite actor is young lot,the guy has talent and I hope he will impress all in Badlapur.

Thanks Rao (the perfect bollywood fan)….but screen count was estimated by me 2500 but in the late hours 500 screens were added so total screens= 3000 so first day potential = 30 Crore opening on average is 22% so 30X22%= 6.7 Crore opening day. WELL DONE INDICINE TEAM…bang on.
