Hrithik Roshan’s Kaabil Release Date announced

Filmkraft Productions’ has announced the release date of Hrithik Roshan’s Kaabil, which will go on floors in April this year. The film, directed by Sanjay Gupta, will release in theatres during the ‘Republic Day’ weekend in 2017.

The announcement also sets up a big clash between Kaabil and Ajay Devgn’s Baadshaho, directed by Milan Lutharia.

While the shoot of Kaabil will be wrapped up by June this year, producer Rakesh Roshan says they are in no hurry to release the film this year.

“All the major release dates this year are already taken. So we’ve reserved January 26, 2017 as the release date for Kaabil. We are in no hurry to release our film”

On working with Sanjay Gupta, who has directed several films but doesn’t have a big commercial hit to his credit, Roshan Sr says “Sanjay narrated a story written by Vijay Mishra, which both Hrithik and I liked. It is something Hrithik hasn’t done before. It is in the thriller genre. It’s different and yet mainstream, somewhat like the films I direct, which are massy. Very different from whatever has been attempted so far in the genre. So you can expect a film that has elements of both Sanjay Gupta’s style and my style of filmmaking”

When questioned about Sudhanshu Pandey’s claims that the script has been stolen, Roshan says ”I don’t pay any attention to such things. As far as I am concerned, the story came to us from Vijay Mishra”

‘Kaabil’ also stars Yami Gautam, Ronit Roy, Sonu Sood and Girish Kulkarni. Since Republic Day falls on Thursday next year, ‘Kaabil’ will have a similar 4-day extended weekend as Hrithik’s Agneepath in 2012.
