How did you like the trailer of Prem Ratan Dhan Payo?

The reunion of Sooraj Barjatya and Salman Khan is probably bigger than the other big actor-director jodi of Aditya Chopra – Shah Rukh Khan and Rakesh Roshan – Hrithik Roshan. More so because they return together 16 years after hugely successful films like ‘Maine Pyaar Kiya’, ‘Hum Aapke Hain Kaun’ and ‘Hum Saath Saath Hain’.

Like Adi/SRK and Roshans, Barjatya and his Prem have always struck box office gold, something that has created unprecedented hype for their latest film.

The much-anticipated trailer was unveiled on Thursday and the response like with most big trailer launches, has been mixed. While a section of the audience has liked the return of ‘family values’, ‘typical Barjatya characters’, larger than life sets, high production values and Salman’s Prem, the trailer has also received its fair share of criticism – ‘trailer doesn’t delve into the story’, ‘lack of youth appeal’, some going to the extent of calling it a compilation of family videos / a television serial.

However, the trade, in general, is pretty pleased with the trailer of Prem Ratan Dhan Payo. People we spoke to, say the film couldn’t have released at a better period as Diwali is all about family, their values, traditions and togetherness. Also, while Bollywood films, story, costumes and music are often criticised for being influenced by the so-called western culture, the trade is optimistic that Barjatya can churn out a refreshingly beautiful film, that can be watched with the entire family – right from the age of 7 to 70, after a long long time.
