Housefull 3 has done very well on Sunday at the domestic box office. Multiplex business was up and single-screens, where business was surprisingly below-par in the first couple of days, picked up too.
As per early estimates, the film has collected around 20-21 crore on Sunday – giving it a healthy first weekend total of 50 crore plus.
All eyes will now be on a strong hold on Monday. Anything above 9 crore will be excellent and if the collections hold around 7-8 crore range – it’ll still suggest a good trend, as multiplex ticket prices drop on Monday. Housefull 2 (2012) collected 6.50 crore on Monday, while Akshay’s highest grosser Rowdy Rathore (2012) – after a 48.1 crore first weekend – went on to hold outstandingly well by collecting 9 crore.
Akshay’s more recent success ‘Airlift’ collected 10.40 crore on its first weekday – but the following day (Tuesday) was a holiday for Republic Day, which gave the film an advantage for the night shows on Monday.
If Housefull 3 manages to hold somewhere in between Housefull 2 and Rowdy Rathore, it would mean the film has a good chance of taking advantage of the open weeks at the box office.
Just to add, there has been a lot of talk about the opening of ‘Housefull 3’. It was below expectations without a doubt, but it’s also a fact that the target audience of the franchise – families – only come out to watch films on Sunday. More so due to the lacklustre music album, which made a dent on business at single-screens in the first two days. The opening was solid and Saturday witnessed growth – which wasn’t the case with Housefull 2 in 2012. Sunday the film has come into its own, with Housefull boards at several theatres across the country.
All eyes now on Monday.

- Saturday – 16.30 crore
- Sunday – 21 crore (early estimate)
- Total - 52.51 crore
It will cross 150 cr for sure now as trend is better then housefull2 and it has 25% better business then housefull2 in 1st wekend itself GO AKKI GO it will be a blockbuster

Happy for Akki and his loyal fans (barring few morons). Now, 100 CR looks a cakewalk and it might go beyond the total collections of houseful 2.
Didn’t watch it and I’m not planning to watch it in coming days too, but few friends gave it a try and for them, the experience was “Satisfactory” though not as good as previous movies of the same series.

Is it just an attempt to appease a particular section of readers (as movie of their idol will be releasing next month) or you concluded it based on the current standing and not on past results.

Indicine just under-predicted it, coz they predict it too early,on 2nd day. They should predict after the Monday collections come out because we can make out the whole week’s collections and the WOM(which is positive,in this case)would be clear by the Sunday jump and Monday hold for a family entertainer like Housefull 3!

Aamir was not even seen in the background. Versatility too no comparism. Ajay done 3 and quater film more than Aamir with every character. Ask Tingu to do a police role wearing police uniform. Salman and Shah Rukh khan have 3 times more fan base than Aamir. That’s a fact.
