Akshay Kumar’s Housefull 3 has surpassed the first weekend collections of Shah Rukh Khan’s FAN to record the highest first weekend collections of 2016. The film was extraordinary on Sunday, with net box office collections of Rs 21.80 crore.
While FAN had limited appeal towards audiences at smaller centres, the SRK starrer had an additional advantage of a partial holiday on its opening day. On the other hand, Housefull 3 belonged to a popular franchise and released during the favourable ‘Post IPL’ period.
Akshay Kumar now has two films in the Top 3. Clearly, 2016 is shaping up to be a good year for him.

Fan was a limited genre film ,no songs,no popular leading lady arriving at a time when jungle book mania was at its peak.houseful 3 did not face such issues,released during post IPL period,no running film to compete,successful franchise,a universally popular genre,massive publicity and promotions released in 3700 screen still a 15 cr opening day is quite low,even a 53 cr opening is below par two yrs ago during the same period ek villain released and collected 50 cr opening weekend starring relative Houseful3 should have collected at least 65 cr opening weekend to prove akshays star power,even a dilwale with mixed won,protests and clash with another biggie collected 65 crores opening weekend in 2600 screens .The film fan was solely riding on srks star power,he gave the opening but thereafter the content didn’t click ,even a salman film won’t work beyond the opening weekend if the content doesn’t click.Housfull3 is following welcome backs trend and that film wrapped under 100 CR’s,h3 will also collect anywhere between 90 to 95 CR’s as the ramzan period starts from tmmrw,another huge disappointment for a film expected to collect at least 150 cr to be a hit ,costs are on the higher side

The trailer, dialogue promos of Housefull3 really annoyed me and it made me not support the film. Akki has nothing to do with it. In fact, I found Airlift very impressive and I consider it as one of the best films of the year!
Di spite opening low on day 1 (almost 4 cr) it beat FAN’s first weekend collection .
