Akshay Kumar’s Housefull 3 has surpassed the first weekend collections of Shah Rukh Khan’s FAN to record the highest first weekend collections of 2016. The film was extraordinary on Sunday, with net box office collections of Rs 21.80 crore.
While FAN had limited appeal towards audiences at smaller centres, the SRK starrer had an additional advantage of a partial holiday on its opening day. On the other hand, Housefull 3 belonged to a popular franchise and released during the favourable ‘Post IPL’ period.
Akshay Kumar now has two films in the Top 3. Clearly, 2016 is shaping up to be a good year for him.

Akshay Kumar is a way bigger star than Shahrukh.
Expected 60cr wkd but still not bad,hope atleast it muchs RR, Akshay may not reach khans and hritik in stardom but he surely is very important to the industry he does 3 or 4 and all atleast recover costs and makes cash register ringing.
Congrats to Aki. I have always admired him its just due to his 1 or 2 srk haters that i bashed him. And i read many comments yesterday on indicine articles where some ajay fans were saying how ajay is way bigger than aki. Stop living in day dream you ajay fans your star doesnt have even half of aki’s following. Your flop ajay can never give even 8 crore opening if he come 4 times in one year like aki.
That’s a very good sign for h3 team and for trade as well.. . 2016 akki is the saviour so far..

That was deemed to happen with Housefull being a franchise & belonged to comedy genre when compared to FAN, which had a limited appeal, no songs & appealed only to niche audience, people peeped in just to see Shah Rukh Khan, who was fantastic in it!

The Sunday collections of H3 are really good . This is the kind of growth it needed on Saturday . I saw H3 yesterday with my family . It was terrible and for me it is the worst movie of 2016 I have seen . It is the weakest film in the franchise . I was just expecting it to be an entertaining experience nothing more but unfortunately it was not . The jokes are terrible, the concept of converting English phrases into Hindi was stupid, the character of Sundi was just full of overacting and the songs are crappy . The 2nd half just does not get over . This is the worst performance of Akki in a long time . Ritesh and Abhishek were also wasted . All the girls were lame and Boman Irani looked plain stupid as a Gujarati Businessman . Sajid – Farhad are now in the league of Prabhudeva, Sajid Khan, Farah Khan and Shirish Kinder for me . Both Housefull and H2 look Oscar winning movies in front of H3 . Entertainment looks like a masterpiece in front of H3 . Sajid – Farhad are better in writing and they should focus only on writing . Akshay is wasting his talent by working in such kind of movies . The level of Comedy in this decade is getting worse day by day with movies like Ready, Main Tera Hero, Rascals, SIB, Entertainment, Welcome Back, CE and Humshakals . I think it will drop badly today as the weekend is over . It is quite tough to believe but Akshay has given probably the Best movie of 2016 Airlift along with Neerja and the worst movie of 2016 Housefull 3 . !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
