Housefull 2 HIT or FLOP – Box office Prediction

Housefull 2 releases today and the film has all it takes to open well at the box office. It’s high on star value (Akshay Kumar, John Abraham, Asin, Jacqueline Fernandes, Ritesh Deshmukh), it’s directed by Sajid Khan whose previous films (Heyy Babyy and Housefull) have been hugely successful, the music and trailer have created enough buzz and finally, Housefull is a huge brand.

We expect the film to open well and then rely on word-of-mouth. It remains to be seen if the clash with the IPL season will affect the film’s box-office prospects, especially for the evening and late night shows.

Opening day should be 12 – 13 crore. Rest of the predictions below

IF GOOD (positive word-of-mouth)

• Weekend – 40 crore
• Weekdays – 22 crore
• Week 1 Total – 62 crores
• Final – 100 crore+

IF AVERAGE (mixed word-of-mouth)

• Weekend – 38 crore
• Weekdays – 18 crore
• Week 1 Total – 56 crores
• Final – 80 crore

IF BAD (negative word-of-mouth)

• Weekend – 36 crore
• Weekdays – 14 crore
• Week 1 Total – 50 crore
• Final – 60 crore

Akshay Kumar needs a hit, as some of his last few films have failed to make much impact at the box office. Infact, the opening of Desi Boyz was way below expectations. He has a few good films lined up for release, but how well Housefull 2 performs will positively or negatively impact the opening of Rowdy Rathore and Joker.
