All new releases opened to empty houses this week. At multiplexes, all three releases – Hey Bro, Dirty Politics and Badmashiyan – were washouts with shows getting cancelled and some shows running at 3-5% occupancy in the morning.
The sexual content in Dirty Politics, starring Mallika Sherawat, has ensured a decent opening at single-screens, but even at these centres the opening was much lower than films that sell sex.
Yash Raj Films’ Dum Laga Ke Haisha continues its could run and the film could show huge growth in business this week. It has released at a few more centres, but it remains to be seen if it match or beat the collections last weekend. Queen was the only film in recent times to collect more in its second week as compared to its first week business.
