Happy Birthday Salman Khan: The Megastar turns 50

Abdul Rashid Salim Salman Khan, popularly known and loved as Salman Khan, turns 50 today. The megastar famous for his larger-than-life roles on screen, made his debut in Maine Pyaar Kiya, a Sooraj R Barjatya film that went on to be the biggest grosser of all time.

Since then, Salman has been through a lot of ups and downs in his career, but it’s in the last 6 years that he has taken super stardom to a different level altogether in Bollywood.

Just a few days ago, Sanjay Leela Bhansali paid rich tribute to his good-friend, when he said “Salman is a cult, he stands in a film and it does 300 crore”

That’s the kind of stardom that Salman commands in the industry and his record in the last few years, starting with Dabangg in 2010 to Prem Ratan Dhan Payo in 2015, is unlikely to be matched, let alone surpassed, for a long time to come.

2015 has been a great year for the actor, but much like the rest of his life, it’s been a rollercoaster ride filled with many controversies. His tweets on the death sentence of terrorist Yakub Menon was heavily criticised. Both his father Salim Khan and Salman himself had to issue a public apology.

In May this year, Salman was convicted by the Bombay Sessions court of culpable homicide not amounting to murder. The court found him guilty of all charges in the hit-and-run case and sentenced him to 5 years in prison. Shocked at the severity of the verdict, Salman broke down in court. He was later granted bail by the Bombay High Court on the same day.

In an emotional address to the media, Salman had said that the court cases are like “swords hanging over my head”

“What is going to happen to the verdicts. If you add five and five years it comes to 10-15 years. That is a big worry on my parents head, my head. It is a big one. It is not in magistrate court.. it is in High Court. Whatever will be my life’s journey after that.. will take it” he said.

Not even the actor himself would have imagined in his wildest of dreams that the happiest moment of his life would come in 2015 itself. In a verdict that came as a surprise to a lot of people, Salman was acquitted of all charges by the Bombay High Court. The megastar, loved by millions in the country, was finally a free man. The sword was no longer hanging on his head and the charges of ‘culpable homicide not amount to murder’ were rubbished by the Bombay High Court.

He tweeted “I accept the decision of the judiciary with humility. I thank my family, friends & fans for their support & prayers”

His career graph took a upward turn too, Salman delivered the highest grosser of the year and arguably the most loved film of 2015 in Kabir Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan. The film went on to collect Rs 321 crore at the domestic box office, cementing Salman’s position as the numero uno star in the country. He followed it up with Sooraj Barjatya’s Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, which did well enough to become his 3rd consecutive 200 crore grosser.

From the entire Indicine Team, we wish Salman Khan a very happy 50th birthday and hope that he remains in the best of health and entertains his fans for many more years to come.

  • On 25 Dec was birthday of Bhishma Pitamah of politics Atal Bihari now Bollywood actor Salman happy birthday u .

  • @javed, please don’t ruin this post by saying your cheap words. Today I know you how cheap man are you. Sorry javed.
This is birthday article not collection…!

  • My Birthday was on 26th December and when I got to know his birthdate I was surprised and dancing. It was decades back when I was child I called him Saajan. His first movie that made him my Hero. Tumse Milne ki tammanna hai was my fav childhood song and still it is.
Rest my parents did the job, when he came on TV my parents called me and use to say see YOUR HERO. That worked big. When we saw the first trailer of Dulhan ham lejayenge, where he was riding a horse, My parents looked at me and and used to say “Ooooooooo blushing” That made me smile. Hehe
But Tere Naam Proved to be epic for me, I started waiting for his films like crazy guy. I can’t see others bashing him. Everyone started calling me Sallu bhai.
And now I am a mature guy, neutral and not that mad but enjoy seeing Bhai everytime.
It is so Fantastic to think that I naturally loved him in Sajaan without knowing A, B, C, D. And that guy became a biggest charismatic Superstar of All time.

  • Happy birthday to salman khan, very nice hope your fans become like you
    .

  • Happy birthday Salman khan!!!! Stay healthy and fit. And thanks for giving us masterpiece bajrangi bhaijaan. Hope you continue to do as good films as BB and please dont give us anymore masala movies like read, kick, dabangg, ett, bodyguard, etc.

@indicine its good that you praise salman on hid birthday, but I would like to tell you that the biggest box office record is held by one and only megastar aamir khan who has given 4 ATBBs and ATHGs in last 7 years which is the biggest record and I dont think salman’s record is as big as aamir’s box office record. Not only that aamir has given 3 ATBBs adm ATHGs in overseas as well. That’s ultimate megastar for you. Nothing against Salman but truth has to be spoken. So stop saying that Salman’s record can not be matched. Because aamir holds much bigger record.

  • Javed don’t be this cheap, atleast don’t create fan wars today

  • It’s your birthday.so share my true feelings about you salman.

When I was a child 1st I watched your movie mpk.and then after that I watched some other movies,I marked just one thing who gave you chance to enter this industry.still AT 1ST LOOK OF KING KHAN,I became HIS FAN.

But kudos to you,90% of actors failed to survive with the talent that you carries.because you’re the one who survived even doing non acting in movies after movies with out changing any expression.

Truly hats off to you.you already becomes a big headache for real cine lovers.and the irony is how can a classic writer can give birth to you talentless non actor like you.

And 90% of your movie is torture.let the movie stay awake, you alone is enough to become a toture.so we hope soon you’ll retire and will spare us from your mega tortures.and another irony thing is you’re a MEGASTAR even though you don’t know what is ACTING!!!!!

Not only to you but also a grand salute your fans who is still left on this earth to near your torture.to them a grand salute.and interesting thing is they found your innocense only in every of your film which is actually you’re not in your real life.

And happy birth day to you.please retire with out ruining BOLLYWOOD more and spare the peoples from your torture, thanks.
