Half Girlfriend hasn’t shown enough growth on its second day at the box office, with mass centres falling after a good first day and multiplexes not showing the kind of growth they usually do on Saturday.
After a good opening day, business was expected to grow as there were no IPL matches in the night – but it’s the other two films in theatres, the older release ‘Bahubali 2’ and this week’s ‘Hindi Medium’ that seem to be the preferred choice of the multiplex audience. The two films have also cut into the business of ‘Half Girlfriend’.
The two-day collections are now at Rs 20.90 crore (Friday 10.27 crore, Saturday 10.63 crore). The first weekend business is likely to be around the 32-33 crore mark. Monday will now be extremely crucial if , as the film needs to hold over 5 crore and then sustain over the remaining weekdays, if it has to end with a respectable lifetime total.
IndicineLBO: We expect Half Girlfriend to finish with lifetime business of Rs 60 crore, which will be ‘average’ collections for one of the bigger releases so far this year. There’s competition in Week 2 from ‘Sachin: A Billion Dreams’ and a Hollywood release. Half Girlfriend will need to get to a total upwards of 65 crore to be declared a success.

Sureshot deserving flop! Looked pathetic from trailers itself. Hightime film makers realize that just having good songs can’t save a movie. Shraddha’s acting has barely shown improvement over the years while Arjun though has the ability – his expressions are limited.
Mohit Suri is over-rated. He started off great but Ek Villain was underwhelming despite being a great success (thanks to Ritesh Deshmukh’s award-winning performance), Humari Adhuri Kahani was a joke and now this.

I had predicted it to collect 72cr Lifetime before the movie released & I will be sticking to my Prediction.

Verdict: HIT/Semi Hit
190 cr looks too high for Golmaal Again. Looking at the present trend of comedy films and Rohit Shetty’s form(SR and Dilwale), 150 cr would be a reasonable expectation, atleast before watching the trailer. Trust me, Secret Superstar will be a huge surprise. 100 cr will be within reach coz Aamir Khan name is enough to guarantee quality. Will be much like Welcome vs TZP.

@ARK, not because it was difficult to predict, we’ve almost always got clashes right (Bajirao, Dilwale etc). But It was because of producer inflation. We can’t be giving our own figures and then claim LBO accuracy.

As I said before the response is not positive . Ideally the collections yesterday should have been 12+ . It is great to see Hindi Medium doing better than Friday . Today the collections of Half Girlfriend, Hindi Medium and Bahubali 2 will be affected due to IPL Final after 8 PM . Hindi Medium is made on a reasonable budget so I think it will be a surprise Hit just like Talvar which gave stiff competition to SIB in 2015 . I remember @ Indicine saying they expect HG to be a bigger success than BKD . If HG crashes on Monday it will be a big failure for Arjun, Shraddha, Mohit and Balaji Motion Pictures . !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’m so relieved that half girlfriend is going to be a flop. Someone should go and tell Shraddha that she is the worst actress among the younger generation. Arjun has potential. Only time will tell how far Arjun can go. But Shraddha should stop doing films. She should first learn acting.

Can be average if it sustains over the weekend but looking at collections on the Saturday(this should have the best day coz there’s no match), a good hold over the weekend looks difficult.
The second week of August is a terrific week.

14th August- Janmashtami (Partial holiday)
15th August- Independence Day (National holiday)
17th August- Parsi New Year (Minor advantage)
The biggest non-holiday weekend this year so plenty of scope for The Ring and TEPK.
If it falls below 5 CR’s on Monday even 60 CR’s lifetime is looking tough.that’s the end of an era for rom com’s !!

If they should have followed the book completely also it should have been a good movie. They have deleted all the best part of the book( like riyas diary read by chetan bhagat and many more). the book looks much better than the movie. the dialogue like deti he toh de nhi toh cut le should have been used. You are over expecting for tubelight and TZH. Tubelight teaser is flop and there is hardly any buzz for that boring remake of flop hollywood film little boy. Even 200 cr looks difficult for tubelight. Salman fans won’t even give a damn as they only love to watch him in bhojpuri masala movies and tubelight lacks all that. So that will depend badly on content and word of mouth. Now coming to TZH it is almost confirmed that it will clash with dutt biopic so 300 cr will be out of reach. It will appeal only to his fans and not the neutral audience as the prequel was bad and not so good. And ali abbas zafar is crap director so not expecting anything good from that film. So final prediction for HGO2017.
