Shah Rukh Khan’s FAN has recovered Rs 45.95 crore in its first weekend at the box office. The film, which was made on a budget of Rs 105 crore, has to collect about Rs 59 crore more from domestic and overseas theatrical share, to recover its investment.
While the India business of the film has been below-expectations, FAN has performed phenomenally well in the overseas market. The film has collected Rs 40 crore in its first weekend and will be 2016’s highest overseas grosser in just 4-5 days after release. The current highest overseas grosser is Kapoor & Sons with total lifetime gross collections of Rs 47 crore, FAN has collected 40 crore in its first weekend itself.

I thought a movie needs to recover its cost from domestic business only without incurring losses for distributors. But, I guess SRK films are exception.
@Rohit, YRF is distributing the film worldwide. Even locally in India, they haven’t sold it to anyone. So loss or profit, it’s all theirs. With Dilwale it was completely different, it was sold for a high price.
For every movie, economics is different. If rights are sold to a third-party, they need to recover.

Total rubbish @ indicine. When did overseas collection start being a factor in determining film verdict? The film is average and srk performance is desperate and overated! Box office wise its on its way to being a flop as its collection is below expectations. If it crosses 120cr domestic then its a above average anything less is a flop.
Srk has now achieved the place which dilip sahab and Amir ji achieved. He also looks as old as them. Srk is now a senior actor so he should be respected as great actor of 1990s and join Big B and Dilip Sahab. So overall my point is, srk should retire now. In bookmy sjow friday the rating was 85 monday 73 ( final rating will be 71 i guess)where jungle book is 87 airlift 84 neerja 85 kapoor and sons 77. Similarly in imdb initally it was 9.1 voted by blind fans, now it had come down to 8.4 and still sliding.

I think the fact that Yash Raj Films is the domestic and international distributor of the film then it is already a Hit. Bkoz they re the producer and distributors home and abroad so the verdict is a clean hit. If some other company buy a film from a producer to distribute then untill that distributor recovers his money the film can’t be term safe but in this case the producers are also the distributor not only home but abroad also
Should SRK Happily Move Away from Eid Date for Yash Raj???
A lot has been said and read about the clash of Sultan and Raees. But lately, there are reports that Raees will be posponed to a later date. And this is the best and wisest decision by Raees team because it is suicidal for Raees to take on Salman + YRF on Eid!
However, the makers of Raees seems unhappy as they have to give up the profitable festive date, Eid. The team of Raees has tried many methods to push Sultan release to a later date. But all of their effors went in vain as Salman and Yashraj have stayed firm on their decisions because they are pretty confident about their product. It is set for Eid release.
It is a plain business. Everyone is free to release/clash his/her film with another film. No one is stopping one from doing so.

Many may claim that Raees was announced first. That’s why Sultan has to make way for Raees. What? Did SRK make way for BM and push Dilwale to a later date? No! Then, why should Sultan be postponed for SRK’s film?
Besides, unlike many claim that Raees was announced first for Eid 2016 release, it was Sultan that had been announced first. DNA India Reported way back in October 2014 that BB and Sultan were scheduled for releases in Eid 2015 and Eid 2016 respectively.

There was a time Salman was facing a very bad phase in his career. Yet, nobody asked SRK to postpone Don and his (Salman’s) Jaan E Mann to have a solo release.

Coming to the question of Yash Raj Films or Adi Chopra owing a lot to SRK, I would like to ask all those saying this ‘are you on weed?’
It is Yasj Raj or Yash Chopra that has made SRK, not the other way round. Before Darr in 1993, SRK just had a hit film in supporting role, which was Deewana, taking into consideration that Baazigar was released in the same year.
But Yash Chop was already an established, popular and acclaimed director! And Yash Raj Films already had big hits like ‘Daag, Kabhie Kabhie, Kaala Patthar, Silsila and many.’
But what was SRK before Darr?
Again, in 1995, they gave him another huge success in the form of DDLJ in 1995 with which Aditya Chopra turned into director. The DDLJ catapulted SRK into the big league.
Both the producer Yash Chopra and the banner Yash Raj films were already big before DDLJ. You can say Adi debuted with it. Don’t you think Adi would have involved in other departments of the film productions of Yash Raj before making debut as the director?
If you claim Adi was nothing before DDLJ, what was SRK before it? He just had three clean hits, Deewana, Darr and Baazigar, out of many films taking into consideration that Karan Arjun was released in the same year.

Do you know that after Salman Sir the last person that a clash would not be fared well is Ajay Devgn. History has it on box office since 2006. The B grade Ajay has had 100% success till date. Srk was d toughest but still it was a tie with factors less favorable for Sos.
Am suprised you named Akshay for clash? do some research on Holiday being allowed to release solo not to clash with Action Jackson (one of d worst film of Ajay I will honestly admit)..
