Even though Salman Khan is competiting with himself at the domestic box office, there is one record that stands tall – the lifetime collections of 3 Idiots. As per official figures from Yash Raj Films, Khan’s EID release Ek Tha Tiger came close, but couldn’t cross the 200 crore mark.
Ek Tha Tiger – 3 Idiots – Dabangg 2
As things stand today, Dabangg 2 has collected Rs 106.5 crore nett in it’s first week, which is about 30 crores lesser than what Ek Tha Tiger managed to collect in 7 days.
Of the three films, Dabangg 2 had the widest release (3500 screens), while Ek Tha Tiger took full advantage of 3 holidays in Week 1. 3 Idiots released on about half the screens, but carried tremendously positive word-of-mouth and managed to break records even in Week 4 and 5.
Quite clearly, Dabangg 2 is not carrying the same WOM and drops during the weekdays have been pretty sharp. But the film has 2 open weeks and the New Year weekend. Can it cross the 200 crore mark? Vote below!

It’s time for you to shut up. Salman fans have o reason to be jealous of that srk. none of Srk films have crossed 120 crore mark since 2010 and as for salman, every movie of his has done it. SRK is still struggling to cross the 100 crore mark and and his films take more than 10 days to cross the 100 crore mark and salman is doing it in less than a week. no non-holiday release have had a weekend of more than 50 crore and as for salman’s dabangg 2, even though a non-holiday release, have crossed not only 50 but also 60 crore on the weekend.
When srk film release, the question is will it cross the 100 crore mark. If it does can it cross the 120 crore mark. when salman’s film release the question is how long will it take to cross 100 crore mark and will it cross 200 crore mark. Idiot

It just shows that trending of a film is due to content and not just stars. 3 Idiots was based on a universal issue so it clicked so well. Whereas the same Aamir did Talaash and it just wound up around 90 cr nett. HAHK, DDLJ, 3 Idiots are once in a lifetime kind of films.
ETT didn’t cross 3 Idiots but will people take factors like prints, franchise/sequel, inflation, screen count in account if Dhoom 3 or Krissh 3 cross 200 crore? Obviously no!

Dear guys 1st of all I would like to congratulate u all for dabangg2 grand success and its blockbuster status already, there is certain norms and particular trend for a certain time and certain industries. Look at the Hollywood and look how the rise of guardians and Lincoln and Argo is trending and look at our movies 5 years back and that is not similar how our movies trends now. During dabangg time Saturday and Sunday figures are on increasing trends while weekdays r pretty low while these days weekdays r competitively better and Sunday business seems wy better than Saturday. Also not to forget there is 31st dec and 1st jan holiday which will boost d2 business tremendously so it’s foregone conclusion now that d2 is going to have 2nd highiest 2nd week business after 3 idiots. Also guys plz don’t misinterpret movie business by net income coz it is distributor share which is rather more significant. That way 3 idiots is 2nd biggest film with 99 cr dist. Share after ett’s 106 cr share. Dabangg2 may have outside chance of getting close to 3 idiots but ett no way. N also salman’s all movies in pipeline seems mind blowing be it no entry mein entry, stalin remake, rajshree’s next, sher khan, prabhudeva next etc, all of them r atbb in making n they will definitely gross pass ett and 3 idiots for sure. tnx.
