Amitabh Bachchan is one of the best actors in the industry, there is no argument over that. But did his performance in Shoojit Sircar’s Piku deserve the prestigious National Award? More so when there were other terrific performances like Ranveer Singh in ‘Bajirao Mastani’, the immensely popular Salman Khan in ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ and terrific performances by actors like Nawazuddin Siddiqui in films like ‘Manjhi – The Mountain Man’ and ‘Badlapur’.
We aren’t even discussing the other regional language films here, but there were arguably more deserving performances this year in the Hindi Film Industry.
Bachchan was terrific in ‘Piku’, but his performance in the film doesn’t even compare to his stellar acts in films like ‘Black’ and ‘Paa’.

Also 1 regional performance That was brilliant was by Tamil actor Vikram in movie ‘I’ directed by Robot director Shankar. It has been telecasted in hindi dub many times on tv and many of you must have seen it. He had so many different looks and gave a very good performace. He undoubtedly had the most difficult role of all hindi movie actors.
articles seems like fanboy article…..salman in bb was nothing more than ordinary…people like movie and concept so was character but acting he was just bit better than his other movies…..yes ranveer was serious contender for best actor I personally feel he is better than amitabh from piku…..akshay from baby was good not extraordinary. ….ajay from drishyam was way better…..dont knw much about regional performance. …..

SRK deserved for swades and chak de.He didnt.
Aamir deserved for sarfarosh and pk.He didnt.
Salman deserved for dabangg(dont think it as a nonsensical movie but the character chulbul pandey deserved it) and bajrangi bhaijaan.
So in my opinion,these awards are also similar to the other commercial awards

@since when national award become prestigious ? Because srk Amir didn’t win any? It is most currupt award. This is same award where Arjun rampaul, karishma kapoor, raveena, saif can win award. I m a big of Amitji but he neither deserved award for piku, paa or hamfest agneepath. Infact he had many great performance in 70-80s even khuda was his one of best.
Some Bhai fans are crying for BB but let them know he might win if other nominee would be only all Bhai movie. He was great if u compare to his own performance in the past. His performance was not close to nawazuddin ranveer or Akki.

Got a National Award for such film which doesn’t even nominations in any awards
