Dishoom Box Office Prediction

Sajid Nadiadwala’s Dishoom is the second biggest release of the month and the film releases at a time when the 3-week old ‘Sultan’ is nearing the end of its run.

The Rohit Dhawan directed film will be the 7th film of Varun Dhawan’s career and the success of the film will be very important for him as well as his brother. In an industry where the success ratio is less than 5%, every film featuring Varun in the lead has been successful at the box offie. It’s a terrific record to have, but the pressure and expectations will be immense. To his credit, the actor has left no stone unturned in promoting the film. He has given it his all in the last one month or so.

Factors in favour of Dishoom on Day 1

• Varun Dhawan: All his films have opened well at the box office and Dishoom should be no different. It’ll his presence that’ll bring audience to theatres on the opening day. He commands a good following with the urban youth, which should help in ensuring good occupancy evening-onwards on Friday.
• Action Entertainer: Dishoom looks like a timepass action entertainer, that has the potential to do well both at cities and smaller towns. The title ‘Dishoom’ could also attract the masses.
• Almost all films produced by Sajid Nadiadwala have done well in recent times. He has two successful films this year – Housefull 3 and Baaghi.
• The marketing campaign has been relentless and pretty effective too towards the end.

Factors against Dishoom on Day 1

• The all-important theatrical trailer wasn’t liked, which immediately put the entire campaign on the back foot. The remaining song and dialogue promos have been a mixed bag. While Sau Tarah Ke worked, Jaaneman Aah simply hasn’t created the kind of impact that it was expected to. We quite liked the scenes involving John and Varun in the dialogue promos. If scenes involving them click, the film could be a big hit.
• The fate of almost all films depends on word-of-mouth these days and Dishoom will be no different. Rohit Dhawan’s first film ‘Desi Boyz’ did not work. For Dishoom to work, his direction will be key.
