Dilwale was steady on its 9th day at the box office, but the collections are now down to low levels. The Rohit Shetty directed film is a profitable venture for Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment, but domestic distributors of the film are set to lose a big chunk of their investment.
There are several reasons why the film has been below-the-mark in India; One, the clash should have been averted, both films have lost money but Dilwale has ended up losing more. Two, protests and show cancellations affected the business of the film in quite a few centres in the all-important first weekend.
Three, since most people cannot afford to watch two films in theatres at multiplexes, they had a choice to make and they opted for Bhansali’s magnum opus over Shetty’s entertainer. And finally, the family audience that were expected to throng to theatres to watch Dilwale, haven’t come out in big numbers during the Christmas weekend.
The difference in lifetime collections of Bajirao Mastani and Dilwale is now down to around 8.5 crore. The Ranveer Singh starrer is likely to overtake the SRK film on Monday or Tuesday.
Note: The official figures for Day 9 has not been officially released by Red Chillies Entertainment. The 9th Day figure is as per trade estimates.

Salman Khan is known to support young talent.Over the years, he has helped many filmmakers in forming successful careers. It is not just blockbusters but relationships that the superstar builds with them. While many attribute the success of their films to his tremendous popularity, others swear that the actor is a master of his craft. A superstar who contributes to a film by giving it a different dimension altogether is what Bhai is all about.
‘The secret of Salman’s super stardom is his
simplicity’ – Anees Bazmee
“I’ve worked with Salman bhai in 2005 in No
Entry and I worked with him again six years later in Ready. There was no difference. In the 15 years that I’ve known him Salman bhai has not changed at all. Salman bhai doesn’t arrive on the set for the morning shift at 9 am. But once he arrives, he is quick, efficient and thoroughly professional. So shooting never suffers. He has a very strong opinion on most matters. And he doesn’t change his mind about people or situations easily. When we worked together in No Entry he had just a guest appearance. But he brought so much to the table. Now I will be directing him in a double role No Entry Mein Mein Entry and as a writer and director my responsibility towards making sure his fans are not disappointed has multiplied. As Salman bhai turns 50 all I want to tell him is, don’t change.
Everyone likes you the way you are. The secret of your super stardom is your simplicity. There is a child-like innocence on your face and a mischievous smile on your lips that is unique to you. Hold on to them. They are precious.”
‘Salman has grown by leaps and bounds as an actor’ – Satish Kaushik
“When I directed Salman in Tere Naam he
surprised me with his understanding of the craft.
The feeling that he is casual about his
performances is just not true. A casual actor
cannot give the kind of performance that he did in Tere Naam and Bajrangi Bhaijaan. I am anactor and a filmmaker and I understand how
much Salman knows about acting. On the sets he is absolutely casual, but once the camera is on, he goes completely into the character. All I want to say to Salman is, ‘Salman, you have lived life and experienced life. You have given amazing performances, seen super stardom, super adulation by the worldwide movie buffs. You have been in the midst of controversies. You have loved and cared for family friends and people. You have grown as an actor by leaps and bounds. I’d say the first half of the movie Salman was outstanding… Wishing and praying to God for a brilliant second half to make it into a blockbuster. Stay forever young, charming and unique as you are.”
’He has one of the kindest hearts I’ve ever
come across’ – Prabhudheva
“Salman Sir has one of the kindest hearts I’ve
ever come across in this business. When I
directed him in Wanted I was new to the
entertainment industry in Mumbai. Wanted was my first Hindi film as a director. But I was made to feel fully comfortable. Salman Sir contributed a lot to his character. He would come up with really clever suggestions. And his dialogue ‘Ek baar jo maine commitment kar di phir main apni aap ki bhi nahin sunta’ was a rage. I think dialogues like these become famous because of the way Salman Sir says them. I had great fun shooting Wanted with him. But I need to have a script that goes beyond Wanted because Salman Sir is India’s most wanted….rather, loved.”
‘My true association with Salman began through Katrina’ – Kabir Khan
“I can’t claim to have known Salman well before I made Ek Tha Tiger. When I was new and trying to make Kabul Express, I was taken by Apurva Shah to meet him. Salman met me with great affection and asked me what I was planning to make. I narrated 10 minutes of Kabul Express and said he would like to play the lead. I laughed it off. Much later, when we met he reminded me how I had never got back to him about Kabul Express. To this day I am not sure if he would have done it or not. My true association with Salman began through Katrina. I was planning New York and my producer Adi Chopra suggested I try Katrina for the female lead.Katrina heard me out but must have been
confused and zapped by what I had offered her. She went back to Galaxy Apartments (where Salman stays) and told him that this weird director had offered her this weird role. He heard that I had offered her the film and he advised her, ‘Aankhein band kar ke haan bol do.’
Salman’s endorsement at that point of time
meant a lot to me. Many years later, we came
together for Ek Tha Tiger and there was a lot of churning and debate on the sets between us.
Here was this star with 15 blockbusters behind him being told what to do by a relatively new director. Salman wasn’t used to taking instructions from directors. We would often argue. By the time we came to Bajrangi Bhaijaan we had discovered a meeting ground and had become very close friends.”
‘I am fortunate to work with him’ – Ali Abbas
Zafar
“About Salman I can say at 50 he believes ‘life
begins’. He is in great physical shape and has
superb attitude towards work and I am fortunate to work with him and wish him all happiness and prosperity.”
’Salman only thinks from his heart’ – Nikhil
Advani
“I’ve known Salman for many years and worked with him as a director in Salaam-e-Ishq. He was also my producer recently in Hero. Salman thinks only from his heart. At 50, anyone would advise
him to start thinking with his head as well. But I feel it’s fine because Salman has a very sharpsense of people’s intentions. So he can never be taken for a ride. When he agreed to star in my film Salaam-e-Ishq I was a virtual newcomer.
Salman working with a relatively new director like me meant a lot to my career. The film industry began to take me seriously. Not once during the film’s making did he let me feel he was Salman. Salman loves to mentor new talent. Even his old friend Sajid Nadiadwala became a director because of him. Salman also sang in Hero. When he heard the composition he said it was too difficult for an amateur singer. Once he was convinced he put his heart and soul into the
singing. Today he is not only one of the most
sought-after actors, but also a very sorted artiste.
I think he has discovered his rhythm. There is a clarity to everything he does in his life and
career. When will I work with him again? That’s entirely up to Salman. He just has to say when.”
’It’s been 25 years of uninterrupted friendship’ –
Sajid Nadiadwala
“As Salman completes his golden jubilee on
earth, I celebrate the silver jubilee of our
friendship. It’s been 25 years of uninterrupted
friendship. We were born in the same year and
are very similar in our likes and dislikes. We had even decided we’d get married on the same day.
Unfortunately, that didn’t happen.. Salman is not one to talk about his feelings. He once said if he needed anything he would turn to me. That meant a whole lot to me. Salman is a giver, never a taker. For him to ask for something is a very big thing. I wouldn’t have turned director if Salman wasn’t such a dear friend and if he had not told me to direct Kick . I was like a child who had to prove himself in his examination.”
‘He’s a good soul’ – Subhash Ghai
“I worked with Salman Khan for the first time in Yuvvraaj. Whatever I had heard about him was wrong. He’s a delight to work with. I like stars who’ve full faith in me. Yes, we once fought and made up. Today, we’re friends. Not many people offered me a helping hand after Kisna flopped. I approached a lot of actors, but all I got were unfulfilled assurances and promises. When I approached Salman, he didn’t ask questions, he said he was keen to work with me. How can I ever forget that? Salman and I share a deep bond. I always treated him like a child. He’s my friend Salim Saab’s son. When Salman fought with me, Salim Saab ordered him to come to my home and apologise. He came home early the next day and apologised. He’s a good soul. And truly a gem of a person.”
no way will indicine admit that dilwale was a crap film!!
people have rejected the slo mo acting of the actors and the movie was a full bore
It’s all time blockbuster collections for BAJIRAO considering the fact that it is every small film, A Small Actor film, Small screen size (2200)& Clash with Biggest, Biggest Superstar & Multistarrer Film like DILWALE
But it’s too much under perform collections for DILWALE considering the fact that it is the biggest & most awaited Film of 2015, A Biggest Superstar & multistarrer film of 2015, Huge screens size (3200) & Clash with small Film like BAJIRAO
So,
Bajirao … 170 Cr Lifetime Blockbuster
Dilwale … 130 Cr Lifetime Disaster
Only reason for failure of DILWALE is NEGATIVITIES around it means DILWALE IS CRAPPIEST FILM OF 2015
Only reason for super success of BAJIRAO is HUGE POSITIVITIES around it means BAJIRAO IS ONE OF THE GREATEST FILM OF 2015
HAR HAR MAHADEV
So Sunday 8 crores… the rest 20 crores… lifetime 145 crores..
Even my estimations of 160 crores is not gonna be true..
Main reason is .
The film is really bad
Be honest
Dont excuses for the failure of Dilwale.. Accept the defeat graciously n be dignified losers..
without clash
prdp couldnt recover budget
according to boxofficeindia .
SRK should release RAEES with FAN on the same date. Both of these movies total may cross 250 crores thus beating his CE record. 125 crores each movie.
@sss : Your queen is chasing Dabangg, Salman’s 2010 n 5 yes old movie. Shame shame !!!!!!!
@Fan_50 cr : Mental hai kya ? Why should Indicine declare a movie as Blockbuster which resulted losses for distributors ?? Best verdict will be Above Average or Semi Hit !!!!!! Lol
very nice articles…….
indicine is the best site for latest updates of Bollywood affairs.
good work . keep it up.
@ pokemoron, BM in week 2 has about 2700 screens not 3700, please do not poke your ugly nose by putting foolish comments as far as hold is considered then more screens are given to a movie if the collections and trend are better that means HOLD is better, so please do your research and check what hold means you dumbass
The collections of Dilwale are pathetic to say the least . Dilwale was expected to collect 200 CR in India in the worst scenario . One thing was sure before the clash Dilwale will do more business than BM in India . But now practically BM will beat Dilwale in Domestic business . Yes i agree Dilwale is doing superb business in Overseas but this is nothing new with SRK . The most important thing which is confirmed SRK is losing the support of Neutral Audiences . SRK fans still watch his movies but they are also getting dejected every year . Most of the fans have accepted that Dilwale is a terrible movie but there are still some blind fans who are saying Dilwale is a good movie and some fools are also saying this is the Best Movie of Rohit Shetty . The failure will definitely affect SRK . In this decade apart from MNIK i have seen all movies of SRK such as Ra.One, Don 2, JTHJ, CE and HNY . I have not seen Dilwale and i will not see the movie . I am not a die hard SRKian but i stayed away from the movie and i am damn sure many people like me have avoided the movie . The choices of SRK are getting worse day by day and the most worse thing is he is producing such movies and now also distributing such movies . With this i can only say the road looks tough ahead for SRK . If BM had Salman, Aamir, Ajay, Akshay or Hrithik then nobody would have criticised SRK so mucg but because Ranveer is playing the lead in BM then SRK has to bear the brunt of haters and also the fans are disappointed on Twitter regarding the content as well the collections of Dilwale .
Ha ha ha. The so called biggest star is defeated by small chongu mongu kal ka launda like ranveer Singh. Ha ha ha. Shame on him. And then they compare him to much bigger stars like Aamir and Salman.
DIlWALE- Srk’s worst film….last year srk release Hny was better…Hny was entertaining…but this is so bad….even srk fans also hate this movie…i cant believe why he accept this below avg script…. collection is not upto the mark…but its good with lot of negativity film will cross 150cr… Hope fan and raees will give answers to his stardom..
117+7+4+3+2+4=137 2 weeks. life time 145-150cr.overseas record uae, pakistan, uk, malaysia so it may be clean hit.
hats off to you for including srk fees in budget bcoz budget contain fees and all investment…agr dusre producton m lam krta to 30 cr to leta h na fukt m thodi n krta….boi is low site bcoz they consider. budget 100 without srk fees and they will consider its budget …but u gys are good although fan of srk but you stay on truth…thanks again for being so loyal
RIP KING KONG’S STARDOME.
in overseas shahrukh scores despite fllms result same as salman in india to some extent.
@Indicine:What will be the verdict of Dilwale
@sambit.are you the distributor?if so then prdp too is a flop.it has to earn 240cr+ to become hit,but later indicine saw when prdp struggled to surpass 200cr,they declared hit collecting only 180cr+.and now it is super hit, how?
http://www.indicine.com/movies/bollywood/prem-ratan-dhan-payo-hit-or-flop-box-office-prediction/
Now got that?
@anand/the original takla, accept then prdp is the biggest flop of the year.
Ha ha ha ha frustrated losers are predicted only @30cr+ for DILWALE.but IT’LL SURELY SURPASS 150CR+ AND WILL BECOME A HIT.
so desperate everyone along with @indicine to make DILWALE.IT’LL surely becomes A HIT at any case.
@hrithik,Ha ha ha ha your star’s jai ho chased all KING KHAN’S MOVIES,please don’t talk about that.and this year too he chased CE with out Harshali with out any negativity+protest+cancellations.
your salman till now couldn’t won a single clash while KING KHAN faced all these problems still survived,THIS IS CALLED MEGASTARDOM.and so don’t be too much desperate.only TIME will tell you.
Just for example how even @indicine is trying to bring down DILWALE by adding KING KHAN’S FEES into the budget, while HE is THE PRODUCER of the MOVIE.
irony!!!!this is called conspiracy.WHOLE WORLD against you now KING KHAN.haters are trying every possible way,but WE’LL never make them succeed JAB TAK HAI JAAN,JAB TAK HAIN JAAN.
1st of all can any salman clarify me
How prdp becomes hit?because indicine predicted 240cr+ to become it hit/super hit.but collected only 208cr only.
While they predicted 150CR+ for DILWALE to become HIT.
Still salman fans why you’re crying as distributor?if so then what about prdp?a super flop ,right?
http://www.indicine.com/movies/bollywood/dilwale-hit-or-flop-box-office-prediction/
http://www.indicine.com/movies/bollywood/prem-ratan-dhan-payo-hit-or-flop-box-office-prediction/
Now you decide IT is TRUE/false
DILWALE—-CLEAN HIT
prdp—-below average/flop.
BADSHAH/KING DR.SRK MEGASTAR RULES BOLLYWOOD.
@hirithik kick also accrued losses for distributor….even though its declared Block buster.
dilwale all knows protest badly affected the collections which lead to BM do well…so trade should give as superhit tag or if collecting go around 170 should declare Block Buster..
KINGI IS KING…any situations his movie is hit.
I think it will be a little higher close to 6.80 crore which is good. Dilwale is a clean winner worldwide. Srk rules. The biggest movie star by Forbes. It will be hit in India which is more than enough under such conditions.
100 crore film of srk is considered not doing well!! While 100 crore for other actors is excellent perfomance!! Thats why he is the King!!! Even if dilwale aint perfoming as per expectations in india but worldwide collection will always be higher than bm so rip haters!!!
@indicine
Why are you trying to justify dilwale’s low collection with redundant points? It lost to BM solely on the basis of content. BM is the better movie and hence it is getting more audience. Period.
Dilwale is.. Very Bekwaas film..
SRK … Kya kar raha hai yaaar…. Bekwaas pe bakwaas film bana rahe ho…….
FAN Fail – End of SRKian
#imSRKian
Last Chance … FAN #April 15
Distributors saying: Iss se better toh Kapil ki film ne buisness kya tha hamare liye!!!
Now distributors are saying that Akshay has gone ahead of SRK as distributors actually gained some money on his films
:P
Shahrukh Khan Decided not to take a single rupee From the Profit of Dilwale Decided to Distribute all the profit to Rohit Shetty and His Team for their Hard Work for Dilwale Shahrukh Khan also feels Because of his Introllence Comments the movie has been affected and he also feels that Rohit Shetty has made a master Piece of his carrier bt its his mistake that movie is not running well in India as they expected bcoz people are Boycotting it…. So Shahrukh Khan takes all the Responsibilities of The boycotting the Movie in India and Decided Not To take a single rupee from the profit and decided to distribute it to team Dilwale Rohit Shetty and his Team Members..!!
#Proud_to_b_an_SRKIAN
@sss : Fill all indicine or all Bollywood sites with your crap nothing will change the fact & PRDP verdict. Take this on your face n zip your mouth
*www.indicine.com/movies/bollywood/happy-new-year-hit-or-flop-box-office-prediction/
I know you do not have the capability to explain for HNY hence you do not any right to question PRDP verdict. Either trust Indicine or pack up such a double standard loser don’t courage to accept reality !!!!!!!!!!
Four, maybe it does not have good WOM because film failed to even entertain the audience?
