Dilwale was steady on its 9th day at the box office, but the collections are now down to low levels. The Rohit Shetty directed film is a profitable venture for Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment, but domestic distributors of the film are set to lose a big chunk of their investment.
There are several reasons why the film has been below-the-mark in India; One, the clash should have been averted, both films have lost money but Dilwale has ended up losing more. Two, protests and show cancellations affected the business of the film in quite a few centres in the all-important first weekend.
Three, since most people cannot afford to watch two films in theatres at multiplexes, they had a choice to make and they opted for Bhansali’s magnum opus over Shetty’s entertainer. And finally, the family audience that were expected to throng to theatres to watch Dilwale, haven’t come out in big numbers during the Christmas weekend.
The difference in lifetime collections of Bajirao Mastani and Dilwale is now down to around 8.5 crore. The Ranveer Singh starrer is likely to overtake the SRK film on Monday or Tuesday.

First of all, nobody forced him to clash with BM. It was own choice due to arrogance and overconfidence. Hence the excuse makes no sense.
Secondly, the protest of bhakts actually helped it more than harming. Yes due to protest it lost a few shows but these things has given it lots of free publity & sympathy.

Why Indicine is trying to minimise the crash of Dilwale, each time saying decent figures or can`t even say the percentage difference between the two movies,Everyone knows what Shah Rukh expected of Dilwale, breaking all records and competing with Salman, even mentioned was made Rs 300 Crores . Ya I accept dilwale was not up to the mark.. but mark my words…u will just get goosebumps after watching it…and let’s clash any of the movie with that film.And in 2007 OSO was a great film and sawariya was boring ..so it won ..but NW bajirao was just AWESOME..

@sss No it’s not a hit. Its a flop because distributors payed exorbitant prices for buying the rights of Dilwale. Producers of the movie will no doubt earn heftier compared to BM producers, but the distributors who put their trust in Shahrukh stand to incurr a huge loss whereas BM distributors will be very pleased with their gamble to go with this movie.
