Shah Rukh Khan’s Dilwale has picked up at the box office noon onwards on Friday, recording occupancy as high as 80 – 85% in circuits like Mysore and West Bengal. The business even at the rain-affected Chennai is extraordinary – most shows of the film are sold out for the day.
As far as Day 1 is concerned, except the state of Maharashtra, there simply hasn’t been any contest. Dilwale is leading by a distance, both at multiplexes and single-screens all over the country.
The reports coming in for Dilwale are good, response from critics has been mixed (Check out Dilwale Critics Review page).
The film is now looking at a 20 crore plus total, which is excellent considering the fact that it lost about 40% of its shows at multiplexes due to the release of Bajirao Mastani. Both films have lost a huge chunk of business on Day 1 itself and Dilwale with a solo release would have challenged the highest non-holiday opening of Dhoom 3. Bajirao Mastani would have probably collected around 10% more than Bhansali’s last film Ram Leela – which collected Rs 15.73 crore on Day 1. The collections of Bajirao Mastani are set to be lower.
It remains to be seen if both films can recover the losses incurred on Day 1. The trend over the weekend will decide if Dilwale can go on to be a huge grosser and if Bajirao Mastani can recover its costs.
The only major beneficiary of the clash today has been Indicine. We have recorded our highest single day, with nearly 9 lakhs visitors today - 4-5 times more traffic from what we usually get in a day. With 3 hours to go before the day ends, we are set to hit the 10 lakh visitor mark for the first time.
DILWALE(2015) is really much better than previous DILWALE(1994)…..

saw the movie Dilwale. How should I start, was very terrified by seeing some really bad reviews by raja sen, indian express, the hindu, india today. And in the initial 15-20 minutes, I thought my worst fears are coming true and the movie will prove to be a dud. But then the master SRK took over, we shift to bulgaria and the movie starts to unfolds with some really sweet moments between kajol and srk. The twist just 10-15 min before interval and exactly at interval was really good. But I already saw that coming as I went in after reading lot of reviews which had hinted towards such a twist already. (DAMN!!! I would have enjoyed more without knowing that details). Till interval, I was still in a bit of confusion whether neutral audience will enjoy it like i have enjoyed the moments between SRK -Kajol. But post interval, the real fun starts. I dont why u mentioned post interval is a bit drag . The post interval section is filled with some real comic scenes which brought the house down with laughter [ “kya apke ghar me chintu he” , ramlal -pogo love story through television were really just insane ]. Family audience is going to love this movie for sure. This movie provides what it promised. Entertainment Entertainment Entertainment !!!!!!!. Rohit Shetty is just awesome. He knows exactly what to provide at what time and how much to provide , the perfect dose of comedy, action, drama. sanjay mishra, boman, varun sharma, two freinds of srk and specially jhony lever (take a bow !!) were just brilliant. Varun overacts in initial few scenes but was better in the latter half. Kriti looks pretty and No words to describe the incredible chemistry between SRK – Kajol. At one moment , I just felt to stand up and shout that I love u both so much. Why cant you be together in every movie which you do.
Loved it. You will love it for sure. Watch it. Stop spreading fabricated negativity. watch it, Take your families along. You will never regret. just awesome.!!!

anyways, I was expecting huge no. of shows and screens despite with clash for Dilwale but that’s couldn’t happen since Bajirao Mastani is a very big film too. it is good figure for first day with clash + non holiday.. the main thing will be that how it will sustain that’s what we have yet to see it..

@Vipul Sudan even though I hate srk, I would Sa he is much much bigger star than bhojpuri masala remakes dependent star salman. Srk is the 2nd biggest star after aamir and Salman is nothing in front of Srk forget the biggest megastar aamir khan. Salman is existing in Bollywood thanks to south remakes otherwise he would gave been nowhere. Wanted saved his sinking career.

3 Idiots with only 1400-1800 screens grossed more than 200 crs so stop talking about screens. with three weeks in hand and 1 more holiday weekend I expect atleast 250 crs. below 250 crs on this lucrative period is disappoint. before the release of movie u all were barking that pk’s record is in danger so what happened now ? now why u all expecting lower numbers ? finally by removing 100 crs from last years Christmas released movie PK (340 crs) for clash factor we should at least predict dilwale to collect 240 crs. below this dilwale is disappointment for bollywood in 2015 bcz business pundits r expecting at least 320-340 crs from both films.
