Shah Rukh Khan’s Dilwale has collected Rs 20.09 crore on its second day at the box office. The early estimate that we posted before anyone else on the internet, turned out to be closest to the actual collections.
The film has dropped by around 5% on Saturday. Several centres which come under the C.P Berar circuit were affected by protests and cancellation of shows, but the film was expected to show the big jump that usually comes on Saturday. That, unfortunately, was missing as Dilwale remained flat throughout the day. The growth at multiplexes did not come.
The fate of Dilwale now depends on the growth it can show on Sunday and how well it passes the all-important Monday test. A jump of more than 20% today would be a positive sign for the weekdays. Morning shows today haven’t really shown that big a jump in business. Collections are at around the same level as on Saturday or a little higher.
The worrying factor for the investors of Dilwale would be the box office performance of Bajirao Mastani. The gap which was Rs 8.2 crore on Friday between the two films, has come down to Rs 4.56 crore on Saturday. Now, if Bajirao Mastani can further close the gap, it has every chance of doing what looked impossible prior to release.
The box office game is so unpredictable that even a legend who has achieved everything that there is to achieve in the industry (and more), will be going through some nervous moments in the next couple of days. He won’t lose money, economics-wise Dilwale is a safe film, but this was always a battle of egos, the winner takes it all.

I think now in India too content is the King so actors and directors should respect the Indian viewer they cant fool the audience so please we want Director like Cameron, Ridley scott and Nolan not like Shetty and farah whose all films are on same line. Now wait for

It’s often said that the climax is the most important part of a film. The fact that Dilwale lacks a strong climax may have done some damage. Other than this, it’s a superb movie.

One thing we should most importantly remember at this stage is that Bajirao Mastani is performing well only at multiplexes and the trend,however good on weeknd,results in bigger day-to-day drops during weekdays.Multiplex performing films tend to fall around 40%-50% on monday and furthermore the normal day-to-day fall is around 15% as compared to mass performing films which see a below 40% fall on Monday and a 10% day-to-day drop..All said and done,the trend of dilwale is not bad and that of bajirao mastani is not extraordinary so under normal circumstances Dilwale will finish with a higher lifetime total unless Bajirao Mastani springs a complete suprise from TODAY onwards

‘Content Is King’
I’m contemplating the phrase, considering Dilwale as a film, it does not deserve these sort of collections and negativity.
If this movie underperforms, understand that the masala genre is nearing an end.
Saw Dilwale yesterday! Its a poor film to say the least.
Dont know whats wrong with our superstars. First PRDP, now Dilwale. Are they doubting the intelligence of the audience???
Dilwale will struggle as it would not be able to get the huge weekend that PRDP got. Remember PRDP was a solo, festive release. PRDP dropped on Monday but the solid punch was delivered. With little manipulations in figures, it got to 200 cr. Anyway PRDP was a hit due to its opening weekend. Otherwise we would have seen articles like worrying signs for PRDP too!
This is where Dilwale is weak as its a normal weekend plus its not a solo release. Multiplex audience has another alternative plus christmas is a week away. After watching the film, it can be safely concluded that it was a mistake to release on 18th. They should have released on 25th and tried to take advantage of christmas new year period and would have also avoided the clash.
Week before christmas would only work if the film is accepted generally by the audience. That is where 2nd or 3rd week become important. Not when you have “Worrying Signs” in the first weekend itself.
Just reinforces what Ive been saying – Its not the Xmas New Year which is the best period to release a film. All major festivals are alike with Diwali having the best weather and being the biggest Indian festival.
BTW @ Indicine – 4 stars for PRDP, now 4 stars for Dilwale, seriously?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Yesterday my brother watch dilwale movies he seriously disappointed by dilwale. Before I warned to my brother don’t go to watch in theatre but he didn’t listen. He said too me “i never watch srk movie in theatre anymore”.Actually he Amir Khan fan sometimes he comments here only Amir article.

I took an OFF from my work on Friday and Dilwale was scheduled at 09:00 AM and got over by 11.30 AM. So, in order to utilise rest of the day and to experience the so called “Cinematic experience” of BM, I opted for it.
And yes, I am stick to what I said. Both Dilwale and BM are not masterpiece , but I will prefer Dilwale over BM as it at least entertains the audiences. You can’t expect anything else from a masala movie.
On the other hand, if you remove first and last 20 minutes from BM, there is nothing exciting in BM. The way they had promoted BM, it generated huge expectations , but it didn’t deliver even half of what it promised.
Surprise to see Dilwale isn’t doing well on m-plex like srk pre films may be masala films times are over in bollywood if Fan release instade of Dilwale then story completely different but Youths decide what will be the LT of DILWALE not movie buff n Monday collection prove it

Like it or not but Ranveer with his performance has upset fans of boh Srk n Salman.

Was indicine paid by EROS? any idiot would know when a film has done well in single screens more on the first day, it tend to drop on the second day and if a film is doing well on multiplexes it tend to grow on weekdays. But it’s single screens manly holds the business on weekdays.
