Like we mentioned in the update at 7PM in the evening (read), Dilwale has shown a drop of around 50% from Friday. Estimates suggest, the Shah Rukh Khan film has collected around Rs 10 – 11 crore on Monday.
While the drop is a little higher than expected, more so when compared to the other film that has held very strong, most big films show similar drops. Salman Khan’s Kick last year collected Rs 26.52 crore on Friday and Rs 14.41 crore on Monday – the percentage of drop was 46%. Happy New Year also had a similar 52% drop on Monday from its first non-holiday (Saturday).
In short, neither has Dilwale held strongly on its first weekday, nor has it crashed at the box office. The film now has a challenging task of not only remaining steady over the weekdays, but also fighting off competition from Bajirao Mastani.
Which bring us to the Sanjay Leela Bhansali film. The hold is phenomenal, Bajirao Mastani has passed the Monday test with flying colours. Two things are certain now; one, Bajirao Mastani will cross the 100 crore mark in the domestic market and two, the film will recover its costs as the overseas business is very good too.
This, in itself, is a big win for the Bajirao Mastani team, because not many in the trade gave the film a chance prior to release.
Early estimates suggest, Bajirao Mastani has also collected somewhere in the 10 crore region. The film has crossed the 50 crore mark in 4 days, taking the total to somewhere around the 56 crore mark.
Check out the table below, it’s a day wise comparison between the two films. The fourth column is the day-wise difference, if Dilwale is ahead it will be highlighted in red and if Bajirao Mastani is leading, it will be highlighted in blue.
The story so far – the weekend belonged to Dilwale, it remains to be seen which film will hold better during the weekdays. Currently, it’s advantage Bajirao Mastani. The trend is outstanding and an excellent trend is always better than an excellent opening.

I am really happy with the response that BM is getting. Its a very good movie and should be seen by everyone on Big Screen.
Coming back to Clash with Dilwale, I feel everyone from trade, news channel, b-town no one gave a chance to Ranveer, Deepika starrer. So, its nice to see a underdog coming good.
Word of vice to SRK fans, no one expected BM to come close to Dilwale in Overseas. More than 90% people (incl. me) expected Dilwale to maul BM in India as well. Even after considering all the factors,If 4th day collection is almost equal , its an amazing achievement to this SLB film. I hope you atleast acknowledge that.

@rocky so what? 2008,2009, 2013 and 2014 belonged to aamir. He is the only megastar whose last 2 films crossed 625 Cr in India and 1300 Cr worldwide. He is the only megastar whose 2 films are on top in overseas and 3 films are on top 5 in overseas and same thing goes for domestic. He is the real global megastar of Bollywood.
When we talk about sense and sensibility, we forget that humor and some madness is part of life. To be away from reality one needs a reason and Rohit Shetty is that one reason who takes the audience away from the daily realities.
We have so much against positivity that we end up appreciating negativity. Rohit Shetty is that one director, who comes out clean with his movies. Without cheap humor and much intensity, he is that one man who is clear about his motives. He is here to entertain the audience. He doesn’t gives a damn about what critics have to say because most of their words are either paid or biased. So let’s just say, Rohit Shetty is the director who is breaking the clutter and trying to be himself.
However, there are few people who refuse to understand. In Chennai Express, we could only complain about the stupidity of story, the ten mistakes in the movie, the flying car and the not so logical script. What we failed to notice is the simplicity of characters, their attempt to make us smile, the simple approach towards love and the very obvious “power of a common man’
Singham, is the loud roaring story of a policeman who is good with dialogues. Well, we don’t really get the point that Rohit Shetty tries to bring us. The message is simple, honesty comes with a price tag but at the end it is the winner always, so go ahead and be honest. In the entire case of criticism and finding faults, we as people lose out the message or the fun he communicates. Just because his style is always in a positive approach with light heart comedy and some quirky dialogues. He belongs to the old school of Bollywood and “Hello” we need some movies to maintain the essence of true Bollywood.
For him making movie is a business and if he says that so openly then ‘People’, we need to stand and applaud his honesty. Why do we need to compare him with other directors who belong to a different genre altogether. Why do we need to tell Rohit that he is doing the same old thing with his cars everytime? Have we ever said the same to any other ace directors who have stereotyped their style of direction and elements in the movie? We have accepted them, their way of movie making and loved them the way they are. Is it really difficult to do the same with Rohit Shetty then?
Well may be because they have an intense subject and Rohit Shetty is all about fun that’s why we don’t really understand his need.
The purpose is to take a break from all the drama and get that little dose of entertainment we all deserve, Rohit does that. We don’t always have to sound very sane and sensible. Let’s be a little more loving towards this director, he is making us forget our real worries atleast for 3 hours.
