Like we mentioned in the update at 7PM in the evening (read), Dilwale has shown a drop of around 50% from Friday. Estimates suggest, the Shah Rukh Khan film has collected around Rs 10 – 11 crore on Monday.
While the drop is a little higher than expected, more so when compared to the other film that has held very strong, most big films show similar drops. Salman Khan’s Kick last year collected Rs 26.52 crore on Friday and Rs 14.41 crore on Monday – the percentage of drop was 46%. Happy New Year also had a similar 52% drop on Monday from its first non-holiday (Saturday).
In short, neither has Dilwale held strongly on its first weekday, nor has it crashed at the box office. The film now has a challenging task of not only remaining steady over the weekdays, but also fighting off competition from Bajirao Mastani.
Which bring us to the Sanjay Leela Bhansali film. The hold is phenomenal, Bajirao Mastani has passed the Monday test with flying colours. Two things are certain now; one, Bajirao Mastani will cross the 100 crore mark in the domestic market and two, the film will recover its costs as the overseas business is very good too.
This, in itself, is a big win for the Bajirao Mastani team, because not many in the trade gave the film a chance prior to release.
Early estimates suggest, Bajirao Mastani has also collected somewhere in the 10 crore region. The film has crossed the 50 crore mark in 4 days, taking the total to somewhere around the 56 crore mark.
Check out the table below, it’s a day wise comparison between the two films. The fourth column is the day-wise difference, if Dilwale is ahead it will be highlighted in red and if Bajirao Mastani is leading, it will be highlighted in blue.
The story so far – the weekend belonged to Dilwale, it remains to be seen which film will hold better during the weekdays. Currently, it’s advantage Bajirao Mastani. The trend is outstanding and an excellent trend is always better than an excellent opening.

Dilwale is going Housefull here in Vancouver every day and every show. People are standing in long que even 1 hr before the show. NO COMPARISON WITH BM HERE. Dilwale is on USA top 10 List and top 3 in UK list. Competing with Star Wars. Such a big salute for a bollywood movie that it is competing with a hollywood movie in a english speaking country. SRK is making Indian Cinema popular overseas.

there has been so much flack for dilwale but indicine refuses to cave in ..still standing beside the ex superstsr for a shoddy film.. 10 cr collection is a huge drop ..almost like a crash..believe it!!!
Those saying that dilwale is doing well overseas must realise that the film is bound to drop on weekdays as ultimately u beed a good film and not just a star.
Fate will be similar to hny but the advantage hny had was the biggest domestic weekend ever which will make it very difficult for dilwale now.
@iamakn – its not right to say that BB clashed with Bahubali. Reason is that when BB released on eid not many amingst the hindi speaking audience were interested in bahubali.
Bahubali grew with wom which took time especially in the hindi market. Thus its unfair to say that BB clashed with Bahubali really. Bahubali did not effect BB collections for the first week to ten days in major hindi markets.
