Dilwale was way below par at the box office on Friday, as the film collected Rs 8.1 crore on its 8th day which was a big holiday for Christmas. The film has collected Rs 110.76 crore so far and by the end of the 2nd weekend, the Shah Rukh Khan starrer should be around the 123 crore range.
As far as the domestic business is concerned, the trend of the film has been poor. For most Rohit Shetty films, the family audience and children do come out in big numbers, but that hasn’t been the case with Dilwale.
Even though the hold during the weekdays was strong, Bajirao Mastani was outperforming Dilwale at multiplexes. This resulted in exhibitors allotting fewer shows and screens in Week 2.
The clash was expected to generate big numbers for the industry, but the combined collections of both Bajirao Mastani and Dilwale on Christmas day was Rs 20.36 crore, which is lower than the Christmas holiday collections of PK last year Rs 27.55 crore.
In fact, even when the collections of Star Wars is added to the total, it still falls short of PK and even the Christmas collections of Dhoom 3 – Rs 25.52 crore.

1. Verdict will be declared in few days. It’s a flop in India if it finishes in that range. But verdicts today are given based on worldwide recovery.
2. Domestic, yes. Although MNIK also didn’t perform very well in India.
3. Won’t affect him much, he has an established fan base. His reputation has been hurt.
4. Dilwale would have done 200 crore easily, solo.
5. Content driven doesn’t mean it’s certain to be liked by the audience.
6. Looks like he will. Doesn’t make sense to release those films on the same day.

The fact is the Producers sold it to distributors with around 90 crores. So, some distributors didnt recover their investments. So it was declared an above average movie or semi hit.
BO Verdict is not only about how much a film earns at BO. It doesnt matter if it recovers its production costs plus marketing costs or not.
What matters is how much a film is sold to distributor/individual distributors and exhibitors.
If they dont recover their investment, you cant call it a Hit.
Even if some distributors recovers their investments and some loses their investments, it is called average or above average etc..
Else an utter flop!
For your case,
The fact is Dilwale was sold for a total humongous 200 crores to the distributors for it was expected to cross 200 crores..
