Dilwale was way below par at the box office on Friday, as the film collected Rs 8.1 crore on its 8th day which was a big holiday for Christmas. The film has collected Rs 110.76 crore so far and by the end of the 2nd weekend, the Shah Rukh Khan starrer should be around the 123 crore range.
As far as the domestic business is concerned, the trend of the film has been poor. For most Rohit Shetty films, the family audience and children do come out in big numbers, but that hasn’t been the case with Dilwale.
Even though the hold during the weekdays was strong, Bajirao Mastani was outperforming Dilwale at multiplexes. This resulted in exhibitors allotting fewer shows and screens in Week 2.
The clash was expected to generate big numbers for the industry, but the combined collections of both Bajirao Mastani and Dilwale on Christmas day was Rs 20.36 crore, which is lower than the Christmas holiday collections of PK last year Rs 27.55 crore.
In fact, even when the collections of Star Wars is added to the total, it still falls short of PK and even the Christmas collections of Dhoom 3 – Rs 25.52 crore.

2 – srk should have signed yrf to get a wide release for dilwale rather than 2800 screens.
Srk became distributor with dilwale it is ok
if dilwale was solo release then there would be no problem at all ..

3 – if u had to apologize then u should have did quickly not before ur movie release…

3. What’s the effect on SRK’s star power, after clashing against a movie with less star power and losing the battle?
4. If both #Dilwale and BM realeased as holiday solos how much would each film have collected?
5. As SRK’s next 2 movies (Fan & Raees) are mainly content driven, will they be able to set the cash registers on fire? (I doubt) If both those don’t collect much money, but have good content how would it affect SRK’s star power?
6. After losing the battle will SRK avoid clash with Sultan? Or, (as I read on some other websites) since Raees shoot is going to be over by the end of Jan & since >70% of Sultan shoot is still remaing (and since the leading actress hasn’t been finalised yet), will Sultan get postponed and will Raees release during Eid holodays as scheduled?
Though Dilwale is a good entertainer with repeat value, it appears that the masala genre is nearing an end, which is fantastic.
