Aamir Khan’s Dangal has recorded the second highest first week collections of all-time, ahead of all other films except the first week business of Salman Khan’s Sultan which released earlier this year.
Sultan is the only film to record more than 200 crore in the first week itself, but the film had the advantage of an extended 5-day weekend including 2 holidays for Eid and Sunday.
Dangal on the other hand, had just one major holiday – which was for both Christmas and Sunday.
The Top 5 is dominated by Salman and Aamir, each of their last 3 films have managed to make it to the Top 5.
This year, 7 films have managed to make it to the all-time Top 30 list.

some srk fans like @ sss is comparing srk with aamir. well i must say after achieving so much things in this decade it’s a huge insult. @sss is talking about biggest opening but truth is that srk can not beat opening day records even on national holidays while aamir breaks opening day records even on non holidays. we all know how miserably srk failed to beat the one year old opening record of ett despite of hiked screens and ticket prices and despite being a national holiday release, shame. while aamir’s dhoom3 went on to beat the opening day record even on a non holiday and we all know opening proves stardom.
and he talks about all time grossers, ha ha ha. srk chased a certain atg for 13 years. i won’t name it everybody know. and this looser named srk created another record of chasing another atg named gadar for 6 years. and srk achieved these things in his best phase. none of the footfalls of his films were close to even gadar forget about hahk in his best phase.
in serious note i think indicine and all trade should consider aamir to be number 1 right now, not because he has all time grossers but because he has beaten opening day record even on a non holiday while some small star like srk fails to beat opening record even on holidays but some trade sites has given him number 2 position. forget about number2 he does not deserve even number 3 or even 4 because even hritik roshan has beaten initial records on holidays which this aukatless actor can never do. actually srk has benifited from his title khan which is similar to the top 2 stars otherwise he would have been thrown out of bollywood long time back.
he will again show his true aukat with his 2018 christmas release and who knows we may get another chrismas release grossing lower than a postipl release.

NOTE : There is no doubt Dangal is a superior and more excellent product compare to Sultan but this article is misleading about number of holidays.

What’s wrong with indicne thesedays??? Since Sky accused you of being anti Amir Khan u have become totally drunk on pro Amir crusade. Sultan has just two half holidays which is a disadvantage . Dangal on the other hand has half holidays from 24 Dec till 2nd Jan. Dangal enjoys tax free, high ticket price , and no competition whatsoever.Sultan is the better grosser anyway.

Indicine please mention everything clearly, it’s not 2 Holiday, it’s 2 Partial Holiday, there is difference between them, also 1st day is Pre EID period, don’t know how many time I have mention these thing……And don’t forget that Christmas Holiday is going on in School and Colleges, and Dangal is family movie, so family audience comes out in big number……Also please mention the ticket price……Dangal ticket price is approx. 20% higher than Sultan……If Sultan had same ticket price then it’s 1st week collection would be somewhere in the range of 220-225cr……..
It’s look like that Dangal may cross Sultan lifetime collection, because it also get benefit of 4 Week free run…..In today’s time when movie gets maximum 2 weeks of free run, Dangal enjoys 4 weeks free run, so 300cr is not a big achievement for such movie, remember Sultan collects 300cr with only 9 days of free run (now that’s called an achievement)……
Actually Aamir really played smartly, release movie in 2nd half of December, so you will get 15 days of free run, and also January is not a good period to release movie (Atleast 1st half), that’s why no big movie release in this period, and you will easily get another 15 day free run…..So total 4 weeks and more for your movie…..
But releasing movie in December period, that too solo is not easy, remember last year Srk tried to release his movie in same year, but he has to face clash with SLB…..Currently only Salman and Aamir rule in Industry and their dominance over EID and Christmas is the proof of this……Aamir is lucky because his movie also get benefit of 1st half of January and also Christmas and New Year holidays……But I think he deserve that…..

CE- 53cr (avg.wom even with facing clash)
Sultan- 48cr (wid good words of mouth)
Hny- 41cr (wid worst words of mouth)
So from above analysis it’s clearly shown that sultan had to thans 5 day eid weekend with 2 holidays hence prooved …

AAmir fans are crying dangal didn’t get a holiday. Ok leave Domestic collections. It couldn’t cross sultan in overseas too where there is a big holiday period. Monday was declared as holiday in USA, AUS. where as sultan didn’t get eid holiday in overseas for eid.
just saw dangal.. its a good movie with very good performances by the cast.. the collections are awesome.. every bit of it goes to brand aamir khan.. the trust n respect he commands is unmatchable.. but I have just one thing to say i would not call it the movie of the decade.. for me bajrangi bhaijaan is quite a few notch above..

When dabangg 2 released on christmas it also broke the record of highest first weekend collection of all time by then it shows the power of biggest holiday week of christmas.
Despite big holidays, christmas fever tax free statusschool college closed very high ticket price on normal weekdays Dangal not able to break Sultaan first week power. This is called Salman Star power.Yes may in third week it will cross sultaan, Aamir u need more tax free status to break salmaan record next time. And also dangal has got the best wom ever and i don’t think for the next 5-10 years any movie will have such a great wom, it was like 3 idiots.
