Dangal Day 2 (Saturday) Box Office Collection Update

Aamir Khan’s Dangal has taken a better start on Saturday as compared to Friday, as the occupancy at almost all centres that we tracked was around 5 – 15% higher than Day 1.

The Day 2 collections will certainly cross the 30 crore mark, but growth in the morning suggests that the film could get into the 35 crore range – as business does tend to peak at multiplexes in the night.

Dangal has already made it to the Top 30 list of highest 2016 grossers in just one day and the film will beat big releases like ‘Mohenjo Daro’ and ‘Befikre’ just 2 days after its release. Fan and Shivaay will be surpassed in 3 days and Dangal should cross the 100 crore mark by the end of its first weekend.

Anything is possible as far as the lifetime total is concerned, the trend over the weekdays after the Christmas holiday on Sunday will give us a clearer picture on where the film is heading.

The only thing that stands between Aamir delivering yet another 300 crore plus grosser are the lack of holidays. If Christmas and New Year had fallen on any other day except Sunday, it would’ve proved to be hugely beneficial, but since the word-of-mouth is very positive, many more people are likely to visit theatres to watch Aamir’s first release in 2 years.

An Aamir Khan film always comes with huge expectation, his audience expect a classic out of him each time he comes on screen, but carrying the burden and living upto sky high expectations time and again is what makes Aamir the icon and brand that he is at the moment.

Update: Dangal is rocking at multiplexes today, houseful in the noon at many places. Advance booking is terrific for the evening and night shows.
