Dabangg 2 Runtime: Shortest Salman Khan film! (Update)

The runtime of Salman Khan’s keenly-awaited Dabangg 2 is around 2 hours. 125 minutes to be precise, making it one of Salman Khan’s shortest films ever. The first film, Dabangg, had a runtime of 126 minutes.

While the length of feature films has reduced considerably over the last decade, very few mainstream Hindi films are 2 hours or less. But given the fact that more than 50% of business is generated in the first weekend itself, filmmakers are trying to make films shorter, to accomodate more shows at multiplexes and even single screens.

Pros: more shows at multiplexes which helps generate more revenue over the weekend, higher repeat value if the film is liked.

Cons: Single screen audience might walk out disappointed, as short films are not considered to be ‘paisa-vasool’ at smaller centers. With a runtime so short and about 20 minutes dedicated to songs, the actual film might just be around 1 and a half hours.

Update: The actual runtime is 125 minutes (2 hour 5 mins). The censor board has passed the film with a U/A certificate (without cuts).
