Now that the hype around the Diwali clash is coming to an end, it’s time to write about something that we have been following closely over the last 4 days. The ‘user ratings’ on the popular ticket booking website ‘BookMyShow.com’ is loaded heavily in favour of Ajay Devgn’s Shivaay.
Out of 56,467 votes received for Shivaay – 61% of the total voters rated it 5 stars. On the other hand, we have the other release this weekend, which is performing very well at multiplexes. But for some reason, the ratings are abnormally negative – even when compared to some of the biggest box office disasters of the year.
ADHM has received 52,865 votes – out of which a whopping 42% ratings are for 1 star.
This raises a couple of questions:
- Can BookMyShow ratings be hacked or manipulated? While ratings on IMDb and other websites make little or no difference to ticket sales, BookMyShow ratings can impact business of films because people see the ratings before booking tickets. Nowadays, most people also trust ‘user ratings’ more than ‘critic ratings’.
- If BookMyShow ratings can be hacked into, and a production house or fanbase can create multiple accounts or use bots to negatively vote for a competing film, it could be used in the future too as Bollywood enters an era of box office clashes.

The ratings of 2015’s most acclaimed blockbuster ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ certainly looks more genuine to us. More evenly distributed between 5 and 4 stars ratings!

Karan Johar should not post Adhm collections before shivaay. We know that loser devgaan is taking advantage of it .
When a movie like HNY can get more stars in the review than PK then such things do not surprise anymore.
Why not BMS could do itself by accepting money

1. Shivaay – IMDB = 7.4 & Book My Show = 3.9
2. ADHM – IMDB = 5.4 & Book My Show = 3
IMDB & BMS ratings are given by viewers. Even if we assume your (bought) opinion about BMS being hacked, its near impossible to hack IMDB. Instead of acknowledging the fact that people are liking Shivaay, you are hellbent to spread negativity about Shivaay.
About ADHM, everyone knows how pathetic the movie is. But as other critics (obviously bought ones), seems you have taken a oath to lick KJo as much as possible.
During QnA session, can you please answer how much did KJo pay to critics n so called trade analysts to praise his pathetic movie?

We should have more faith in ratings of bookmyshow.com rather than on the third-class reviewers who can drop to any level just for the sake of money/publicity/chamchagiri.
It is hater’s vote indicine…most of srk and salman fan hate ranbir since besharam..that is reason getting so many 1*. Another one reason is some critics rate is so highly that people thought it is very good film but they disappointed..thats why these people rate it low.
ADHM imdb rating is also low.
IMDB can be hacked very easily, actually hack is the wrong word, it can be done easily with fake facebook profiles and creating fake facebook profiles is a minion’s work.
Above all 7.5 IMDB rating for Shivaay speaks volume, rating for American Psycho is 7.6!

First of all indicine is promoting ADHM from the first day so they are totally biased.
NOW book my show has already given its statement related to the way they count the rating when some fucked up site like indicine raised the same question.
I have already watched both film for me Shivaay deserves minimum 3.5* star and yaa on other other hand ADHM max 1.5* .
Now from the first day footfalls of Shivaay are more than ADHM the prblm is that Shivaay is on single screen so it’s earning is less.
your commentary clearly indicates that your are biased towards adhm……
