Bollywood Christmas Day Box Office Collections

The three major films in theatres this weekend – Dilwale, Bajirao Mastani and Star Wars: The Force Awakens – couldn’t really take full advantage of the Christmas holiday. The two Hindi releases were running in their 2nd week at the box office.

On the same day last year, PK collected a record-breaking Rs 27.55 crore on its 7th day, which was about 8% higher than the collections of Dhoom 3 the previous year.

In 2015, the collections on Christmas Day is down by around 15% from last year. In hindsight, a 25th December release, with preview shows starting on 24th, could have proven to be beneficial for Dilwale.

  • 2008: Ghajini (Day 1) = 10 crore
  • 2009: 3 Idiots (Day 1) = 12.5 crore
  • 2010: Tees Maar Khan (Day 2) = 13.5 crore
  • 2011: Don 2 (Day 3) = 17.98 crore
  • 2012: Dabangg 2 (Day 5) = 15.5 crore
  • 2013: Dhoom 3 (Day 6) = 25.52 crore
  • 2014: PK (Day 7) = 27.55 crore
  • 2015: Dilwale (Day 8) + Bajirao Mastani (Day 8) + Star Wars (Day 1) = 23.94 crore

  • So to say Christmas belongs to Megastar Aamir Khan.. No wonder the trade will prefer him to give a solo release during Xmas because he can reap maximum benefits… Kudos to him..
Similarly Eid belongs to Megastar Salman Bhai only… Other festive periods belong to other superstars n stars…

  • By the way Akki also didnt do bad although TMK was a horrible film…. I feel so sorry for Akki.. He was challenging Khan trio supremacy at BO once upon a time. He has destroyed his own stardom and reputations by his ow hands by doing too many horrible films… I dont know why.

  • Bhaijaan’s Dabangg 2 also did very good business on Xmas day as it was Day 5 also provided that it was directed by a debutant director.. Low production value…Only advantages was bhai and being a franchise of a BB movie.

  • The best Xmas releases

    1. 3 Idiots
    2. P.K
    3. Bajirao Mastani
    4. Ghajini
    5. Dhoom 3
    6. Dabangg 2
    7. Don 2
    8. Tees Maar Khan
    9. Dilwale

I have seen all in theatre multiple times. 3 Idiots-5 times, PK-8 times & Bajirao Mastani-2 times already. I am representative of the paying public but this is my individual preference

In my list above, I loved the first 3, watched multiple times. The next 3 were good one time watch and to be watched on TV. The last 3 were outright waste of hard earned money

  • @tigress don’t blabber boy….. I haven’t said bhaitard , revital boy , lallu.. So calm down baby baby and respect him …

  • @tiger : the real king – yes that was a typo mistake… & u can’t edit your comment on indicine… BTW bhai ka kitna 200 cr grosser hai worldwide??? 3??? :D

  • @Vera: Yes,TMK opened well due to just one chartbuster Sheila ki jawani but Dabangg opened well only due to Sallu’s stardom even though it had an even more popular Munni badnaam hui and overall a much better album than TMK.
What else you can expect from a moronic Khantard like you!!

  • Yes and megastar Ajay devgn has broken all the records this year.Congrats to his billions of fans around the world!
He is the one & only true megastar.

  • Lol this @aisha is three much fun u want collections , opening weekend don’t worry hf3 , Robot 2 are coming….
And it’s khiladi not kiladhi so plz learn to write ….. Here I m not defending TMK I have also said earlier it was one of the worst Christmas releases ….

  • Yaar @Aisha Iqbal, I feel so pity for these Really @Deadpool @Sunny Alcoholic. You are taking their class really well. Lol!
You alone are enough to destroy thm.
    Hats off to you! ;)

  • With Big Xmas Dominance BajiraoMastani is now heading towards clean Commercial Success! kudos to Eros & SLB for the Victory!.

  • @Babaji : Why so insecure about AJ Devgan ? Both Akki & Ajay D are superstar if not for Khan trio era they would have been among Top 3 stars of country.

  • @ deadpool why wasting time to bash them whatever they have no other subject to bash Akki Sir . Just forget them . They bashing Srk now then they will bash Akki after Airlift film release .

  • @jokerpol:
“Hum Sharif kya ho gaye even 60cr club’s fanatics humpe chillane lage”. AUKAAT pe reh apna..

@babaji 8:30pm: (yes u r right I have written it babaji) both shiela & munni were equally popular but shiela had a clear edge over munni due to the Katrina facor. Also tmk’s director’s previous movie was a blockbuster and Dabang had a debutant director. Hence, tmk had more positive things than Dabang to get better opening.

BTW, is this #deadpol a real Akki fan??? or a chameleon I’d???

  • Don’t know why some salmir fans bash srk, akshay and ranbir . Fly as much as high u want. Don’t forget what salman was before da bang and aamir before ghajni. If they can bounce back so can srk with fan and Raess so can akshay with Airlift and house full 3 so can ranbir. Kudos to ranvir for bajirao. Salman for bb this year. Hard luck for srk and akshay. Next year u both will create records.

  • @ Aisha I have said before some day I will never try to bash . Please don’t try to break my promise . And u are fake fan of Ajay only @ sunny bash Ajay Sir , open ur eyes on social networking site every akkians support to Ajay Sir .
And ur kind of information when Akki entered in Bollywood akki sir want to learn karate from Ajay father but Ajay Sir was unhappy with Akki Sir . @ son of sardar title was Akki Sir film but he has given to Ajay .
And about Christmas Ajay Sir has also got chance Toonpur ka superhero was flop .
Box-office record bante hai tootne ke liye but u Bollywood won’t get Patriotic like Akki Sir .

  • @starwars :force awakens, then what about having all these benefits ,your lallu unable to give a single ATHG.he cahsed 3i for 3-4 years,KING KHAN came 2st EID,then HISTORY written all over.now see still he is struggling to cross pk’s total with HNY’S OPENING.that’s why your BHAI is aukatless.and ready is a post-ipl release+south remake, not a non holiday film, corrected.and during that period Ranbir Kapoor’s yhhd is the biggest grosser till now,if so then you’re agreeing Ranbir is bigger star than salamn?,ROFL.

All who are made fun of DILWALE by comparing IT with pk,just see 2011 released film collected more than 2013 released dabang2.shame?this is lallu’s aukat?

    @congratulations SRK haters,just see this

    http://www.indicine.com/movies/bollywood/prem-ratan-dhan-payo-hit-or-flop-box-office-prediction/

They said prdp will be a hit of crosses 240cr+.bit now collecting 213cr it becomes super hit.

    And what about this

    http://www.indicine.com/movies/bollywood/dilwale-hit-or-flop-box-office-prediction/

They said DILWALE will become HIT only by collecting 150CR+.

but they a re changing their statement if IT’LL collect in that range of 140-150cr then it’ll be flop.

Also now see @indicine is giving excuses.

    It proved now

    Prdp—-flop

    DILWALE—-CLEAN HIT

excuses after excuses.everybody are INA hurry to declare DILWALE as flop because THEY ‘RE jealous of KING KHAN’S CONSISTENCY.especially this site is jealous of HIS success.

@indicine should change it’s name to @salamancine.because till today only salman fans are making fun of this site like this.but @indicine is now proving how they’re completely biased towards salman and their FANS.

So congratulations to all SRK jaters, you’ll failed big time.DILWALE IS STILL A HIT.

    KING KHAN RULES BOLLYWOOD.

  • From now on ONLY aamir khan on christmas- ok well maybe Santa just to help out with the presents for the kids but an Aamir film is more than enough for me…!

  • @complan boy

The only thing your Queen rules is Maratha Mandir n thats thanks to best friend adi bankrolling them to keep on playing that maha crap DDLJ for last 20 yrs…!

    Lol

  • Now where is that moron lungiwala queen fan @phenomental fool who was barking against numero uno megastar Samir khan’s unmatchable Christmas success and showing his dumb jealousy? I would love to see his face once again. Come out chameleon srk fan. Your lungiwaali Aunty couldny match megastar aamir khan’s old Christmas releases in terms of collections or foot falls. Never dare to talk about ultimate megastar aamir khan again. He is baap of all superstars.

  • @sss:

film with 100cr budget ( Dilwale ) is not a hit only but is a sure shot super hit even has to be a blockbuster too on 160cr + lifetime.
