David Dhawan’s Chashme Baddoor has exceeded trade expectations on Day 1 as the film collected Rs 5 crore (approx) at the Indian box office.
The remake of the 1981 classic, has fared well at multiplexes. Business at single screens were on the lower side, as they only contributed about 15-20% to the Day 1 collections.
The critics who matter have given the film a thumbs up, the response on social-networking websites is good and the reports from theatres is positive — all of which should result in good word-of-mouth publicity and good growth in business over the weekend.
The first weekend collections of Chashme Baddoor should be around 16-17 crores, which is outstanding for a film starring Ali Zafar, Taapsee Pannu and Siddharth.
