Emraan Hashmi is going through the toughest phase of his career. He hasn’t had a ‘HIT’ since 2012 and his latest film releases 4 years after his last success (Raaz 3) at the box office.
The average net collections of his last 8 films is less than Rs 26 crore, which is what big films nowadays collect on Day 1. Even smaller films like ’Baaghi’, ‘Kapoor & Sons’, ‘Ki & Ka’ manage to collect 26 crore or more in 2-3 days.
The problem for Emraan is that two factors that were helping his films in the first half of his career, are no longer his USPs. Almost every film now has a kissing scene and his more recent films haven’t had too many chartbuster songs either. Long gone are those days when Emraan Hashmi songs like ‘Aashiq Banaya’, ‘Bheegi Bheegi’, ‘Tum Mile’ and many more.. were playing non-stop on radio and music channels.
However, Emraan still commands a fairly good fan-following at smaller centres. So it’ll be interesting to see if ‘Azhar’ – a film that has been marketed very well – takes a good opening on Friday. A good opening and a solid opening weekend will be the key if ‘Azhar’ has to succeed at the box office.

I like Emran Hasmi’s acting very much. I even don’t realize he is acting while watching movie that features him. It looks like I am in front of him and everything happening infront of my eye while watching his movies. I heartly wish him good luck for his upcoming flick azhar.

How can a 35 crore budget movie calls flop with 37 crore collection?

The life of Azhar is full of controversies which can make a great movie . The older generation who have seen Azhar playing cricket will be interested in knowing his real life story . I hope the biopic is honest and they dont show him as a pope . It all depends on the director that how he shows Azharuddin controversial life on screen . Emraan looks like has done good job of portraying Azhar as from the trailers . If this movie fails then also their is Raaz Reboot which will definitely work as it is a big franchise .

Yes the “kissing factor” is no longer a surprise any more (and is to be seen in one or another movie esp the movies of youngsters) which initially used to be his USP.
It is not that he didnt try to move away from his image. To his credit he tried doing different movies like Shanghai, Ek Thi Daayan, Ghanchakkar but they didnt work.
Best wishes to him for this movie. Hoping he delivers a hit with it.
