Brothers has done reasonably well on its opening day at the box office. The film has collected Rs 15.2 crore net on Day 1, which has made it the second highest opening day grosser of 2015.
However, considering the budget, star-cast and banner, Brothers should have taken a bigger opening both at single-screens and multiplexes. The occupancy at metro cities was on the lower side throughout the day, even though the film did pick up at multiplexes evening onwards.
Brothers is yet another Akshay Kumar film that has fallen below trade expectations on Day 1. His last film that opened well was ’Rowdy Rathore’ back in 2012. ‘Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Dobaara’ also took a good start, but couldn’t sustain because of negative word-of-mouth publicity and competition from ‘Chennai Express’.
Reports from theatres is mixed, so it remains to be seen how well the film does on Independence Day holiday today (Saturday). In the last 3 years, film business has crossed the 30 crore mark on August 15th, making it one of the biggest days for the industry.
In 2012, Ek Tha Tiger shattered box office records by collecting Rs 32.92 crore on Aug 15. In 2013, the combined business of Chennai Express (Day 7) and Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Dobaara was Rs 30.6 crore. In 2014, Singham Returns collected Rs 32.09 crore.
With two big holidays in its first weekend, Brothers has got one of the best release dates this year. The ticket prices are also on the higher side as compared to normal releases. The big question is if Brothers can take advantage of the big holiday weekend – during which the box office fate of the film will also be decided.

Farah made 2 decent films with Srk but made TMK with akki.
Milan luthria made a fantastic OUATIM with ajay,emraan but ruined the sequel.
Now,Brothers was under a big production house,with a director who had a successful superhit behind him and a remake of a cult Hollywood film but still despite Akki’s tremendous efforts the film has been bashed by the critics.
Feeling really sad for sid.if brothers fails to bcm a hit then v have to accept that so far this year has been underwhelming for bollywood and can b called decent to good bcz of extraordinary performance of 2films-bb and twmr

Khans are competing for 40 cr on Day 1 and 300 cr lifetime, meanwhile our Khiladi Kumar is busy with less than 15 cr opening day collections and less than 100 cr lifetime business. Respect.
Watched Brothers. Good production values, good action scenes.Akshay is brilliant. He’s the best part of the film and he fights like a pro.Sid looks good in the action scenes but his acting is disappointing.The emotional quotient failed big time but it isn’t that bad like the critics are saying. I personally enjoyed the second half because I’m a huge fan of MMA and wrestling. It is a one time watch for it’s action (first ever MMA fights in Bollywood) and because of Akki’s performance.

Every time a trailer of an Akki film is released, I get so excited and think this would surely cross Rowdy opening but don’t what’s happening,I thought Brothers had everything going its way but still when D Day comes I am told my Mr Indicine that the occupancy is lower than ABCD2.
Feeling really disappointed today and I won’t be having any expectations in future from an akki film as far as box office is concerned but yes I will definitely have expectations from Akki The Actor coz he is really in top form as an ACTOR these days be it holiday,Baby,Gabbar or Brothers,his performance has been unanimously loved by critics.

So sad for Akshay and Sid. I watched it in Dubai yesterday and the cinema was full and we enjoyed it with my cousins. Truely critics are very harsh on some films but Brothers ia a good film with emotional quotient. Enjoy it and forget critics
Rawdy Rathod was a Prabu Deva’s film and Singh Is Bling is also being made by him, so SIB is that Akki movie that can cross 150cr mark in my opinion, as far as Brothers is concerned i have never felt excited about it since its launch and even the promos didn’t appeal to me, and what is worst is that the film’s content itself is below average as per feed-back. I am sure the film will struggle to beat Baby’s collections, the story of OUATIMD is repeating itself. It is really sad to say that only Aamir and Salman are doing films that are exciting and commercialy viable!
