Q. How are the box office prospects of Raees looking now? Is it still being seen as a potential bumper openers on a Friday morning by the trade??
A. Too early to talk about Raees right now. There is still quite a bit of uncertainty around the release of the film. Are the makers willing to take on a film like Hrithik’s Kaabil? If Mohenjo Daro goes on to be a huge hit at the box office, that will completely change the way the trade would look at the clash – Hrithik would then have a upper hand. How will Excel market the film? Are they going to lie low for a while, then release the trailer a couple of months before – which wouldn’t be a great idea because the teaser was released in July last year. Too many questions at the moment. There needs to be clarity over these questions, because we even begin to talk about opening number on Friday. Releasing on Eid against Sultan was probably a better idea than pushing your film by nearly 7 months. Bakrid (September 9) was the best date.

A. For highest grosser of the year, it’s the content (story, writing and direction etc) that are more important because almost all films that you mentioned does feature a top star. Mohenjo Daro and Shivaay are two films that can surprise and go on to be huge grossers – because the genre of myth / history / costume has received a big boost with films like Baahubali and Bajirao Mastani. Sultan and Dangal are obviously the top contenders because of the release period and two of the biggest stars in the industry. We wouldn’t want to include Raees in this because it’s officially scheduled to be out in 2017.

Shivaay is overrated movie. Ajay is brilliant but his films hardly been recognised before trailers. He added some face value but not that Superstar kind. Don’t want to degrade him, he is doing only few films now, Shivaay sounds average to me. Yes Rohit Shetty with him actually can make things huge.

MD IN FACT will be benefitted by chustom as those who go to multiplexex to watch chustom will end up watching mohenjodaro earlier MD collections would have been 300 crores now MD collections will be 400 crores for sure and chustom will be outrightly rejected this is the truth .. i can bet on this ……chustom – 40 crores lifetime MD – 400 CRORES MINIMUM hrithik roshan forever…….. in fact i invite to become a hrithikian and join we hrithikians ..

@virat kohli, actually south remakes, kabir khan saved salman 1/4 khan’s career as none of his movies were able to cross 10 cr life time in last decade. Shame. Most of his so called hits had him in supporting role. We will see salman 1/4 khan’s stardom without south remake, kabir khan, etc. So dont blabber much. Dangal’s frst 5 days collections will be more than salman 1/4 khan’s loltan’s life time collections.

1. Dangal – 400 cr (if content as great as 3 idiots)
2. Mohenjo Daro- 250 cr +
3. Loltan- 145 cr (no kabir khan, harshali, south remake)
4. Shivaay- 142 cr
5 housefull 3- 110 cr

7. Rustam- 100 cr
8. Rangoon – 95 cr
9. Baar Baar Dekho- 90 cr
10. Flying Jet- 85 cr+
Either SULTAN or Dangal will be the highest grosser of the year. No chance any other tiny star’s movie to achieve the milestone.

@indicine 60-70% of Indian people are living in vollages and most of them are salman and aamir and akshay fans.it is very rare u found srk & hr fans there.according to social media,city Srk may be 2Nd most fan following.but in real Salman,aamir,Akshay,Ajay/Srk.but now srk overtakes ajay but 90’s ajay have more following than srk.

@Zo me and you are not Ajay fan but why degrade him. Accomplished everything in successful career could have decided to resign but still making our movies at least to compete with I international stage like mohenjo. Lots of Hollywood gurus are there assisting why not wish it luck. Degrade but how? Except you personally hate him that’s a different issue entirely.
I will support shivaay definitely I like the words indicune used and Bahubali director after visiting his sets. Forget that.
Still my pick Sultan mohenjo shivaay. Ajay is my 3rd best after Greek king of mass Salman and king of versatility Ajay

What everyone including ‘Indicine’ has failed to understand is ‘Raees’ has been postponed mainly due to the fact that it was not having sufficinent numbers of screens against Sultan rather than the makers’ concern about the BO. So, how do you guys expect the makers to release it when it is not having enough screens.
Trade and Exhibitors want only Sultan this Eid. So they will allocate this film only. Get this on your head!!!

This Man deserve lots of Praises Ajay Devgn even with clash and a small boy front of bigger banners producers directors he is even competiting with likes of Dangal MD Sultan. No motion teaser yet remember. True indicine Respect for Ajay Devgan. The man with more art movies than commercial but still has nothing to prove and being mentioned with names like Amitabh speaks a lot about him. Once again Respect.
