Q. Why do movies like ‘Special 26’ don’t work as well they should?
A. It’s the genre that limits the reach of a film. Movies like Special 26, Airlift, Baby have little or no appeal outside 20-25 cities in India. Whereas movies like Rowdy Rathore and Bajrangi Bhaijaan appeal to a larger section of the audience, which includes smaller centres. The other factor that make films big grossers is repeat value. Thrillers like Special 26 are watched once. All these factors combined end up restricting the business of films like ‘Special 26’.
Q. Do you think dangal will get affected for aamir intolerance comment?
A. It won’t. Long way to go for Dangal’s release and Aamir Khan has already given quite a few interviews, including a long one on ‘Aap Ki Adalat’ with Rajat Sharma, where he spoke about intolerance and more. You can watch the video below.
Q. Does over promotion kills a film?If yes then give examples of some.
A. Promotions in itself is way too overrated, because these days word-of-mouth comes into play as early as noon shows on Friday. City tours, interviews and all the effort that actors put into promoting films help increase awareness about a film and probably does make a difference on Friday morning.
As for over promoting a film, Shah Rukh Khan spent a lot of money on marketing Ra One. His in-your-face marketing strategies were ridiculed, but it did help the film for two days at the box office.
Q. Many people credit Aamir’s success to strong content in his movies.But isn’t choosing the right scripts the most important attribute of any star.It implies the actor is dedicated,sincere and doesn’t take his stardom for granted.
A. The process of filmmaking is long and complicated. Even if an actor chooses a good script, what’s on paper might not translate into a good movie on-screen. Economics, casting, direction, acting, editing, marketing, timing of release and several other factors can make or break a film at the box office. Aamir is closely associated with his films. Right from the pre-production and casting stage to sitting on the editing table, Aamir gives his films his all. But this has come at a cost of doing one film every two years.
Q. Is there any chance for Rustom to beat Mohenja Daro at the box office?
A. Anything is possible at the box office. A small but well-made film can beat a biggie. Having said that, Mohenjo Daro is a magnum opus. Hrithik himself has said it’s a very big film. It’ll have the added genre advantage. Films like Bahubali and Bajirao Mastani have performed well and this will help Mohenjo Daro.
Q. Can FAN open In the range of 25 crores on Day One? What is the inside news about the film? Is it going to be a solid film like Bajrangi Bhaijaan or a damp squib like Dilwale and PRDP?
A. 25 crore on Day 1 is highly unlikely, if it does achieve that number, it would be huge for a film like FAN. Inside reports can never be trusted, atleast not a month before the release of a film.

With Kapoor&Sons set to become d biggest hit of March and Gunday still d highest grossing February release ever isn’t it fair to say that time has come to give these youngsters their due respect from media and fans as march & feb r considered to b d toughest months for Bollywood while last Christmas another youngster Ranveer pulled of a shocker by delivering a monster hit in d form of Bajirao mastani.
A. Kapoor & Sons has a long way go for before it can beat the 63 crore total of Race. To answer the second part of your question, the young stars in Bollywood have grown in the last few years, Varun and Ranveer have the potential to make it to the Top 5 soon. Ranbir is going through a career low, but with directors like Karan Johar and Rajkumar Hirani signing him for their films, he is certain to make a strong comeback. The industry hasn’t produced too many bankable stars in the last 20 years or so. That could change with some of the younger generation actors showing a lot of promise.
Q. Is there any possibility or green signal from producers of Sultan and Raees to avoid the clash of release during Eid festival?
A. Not so far. It’s more or less certain now that the clash between Sultan and Raees willl take place during Eid this year.
Q. Do you think Neerja will help in lifting Sonam’s career a bit ? Rajnish
A. Most certainly. There is a nothing quite like a commercial and critical success. She’s been flooded with offers already.
Q. What are the parameters to measure starcast in any movie as you have given 9 points to both SRK movies (FAN & RAEES) in prediction article where as 10/10 have been given to Sultan and Raees?
A. The parameter is the male star’s current standing the trade and the female star too.
Q. What is the genre of Kapoor and Sons?
A. It’s a family drama with light-hearted moments and emotion.
Q. When is Jagga Jassos scheduled to release?
A. There is no release date for Jagga Jasoos currently. A new date will be announced after the shoot of the film is complete.
Q. What do you think about the future of Fawad Khan in Bollywood?
A. Fawad isn’t a bankable solo star currently. His performance in both Khoobsurat and Kapoor & Sons have been received well, but it’ll take time for him to grow his fanbase.
Q. What do u think about robot 2 and bahubali 2 ? Is their any chance to cross 150 cr mark in Hindi version?
A. Bahubali 2 should easily cross the 150 crore mark if it gets a solo release. The interest to watch the sequel is tremendous, it’s one of the most anticipated films of 2017. As for Robot 2, it’s a big film too because of Akshay Kumar’s presence.
Q. Do You think 350 crore budget of 2.0 is real or it is just to create hype, and even if it is the makers should go for an english dubbed version as well to increase its reach to the worldwide audience?
A. South Indian producers are known to exaggerate both the budget and box office collections of their films. Some of the numbers that they quote are unrealistically high. Always better to take these numbers with a pinch of salt. If 350 crore has to be recovered, the film has to collect more than what PK did worldwide.
Q. Can any of the upcoming movies of 2014 do 400Cr business in India? – Manju
A. No film in 2014 can do 400 crore, because the highest grosser of the year was PK. If you meant 2016, then it’s highly unlikely. Dangal has the best chance, but its genre will restrict its business.
Q. Tell us something about Hrithik next with YRF.. As he has confirmed that he is doing YRF next with victor.
A. Hrithik confirmed the film on Twitter. Expect an official announcement soon.
Q. By all standards and yardsticks is not hrithik equal to khans, notwithstanding the fact that he was much ahead of Aamir & salman in the last decade?? Sapan
A. He was ahead of Salman and Aamir in the last decade, but what matters is the current one. He does way too few to really take his stardom to the next level. When you do two films a year, it has to be a massive grosser like PK or Dhoom 3. Bang Bang just about recovered costs and it disappointed his fans.
Q. Why art films perform poorly in box office?what would happen if one of khans does these type of films? Aditya
A. It won’t work even with the Khans. Aamir tried with Dhobi Ghat, SRK did Paheli and Hrithik’s Guzaarish was also arty. Nothing worked.

A. Yes, Half Girlfriend is releasing next year. The final release date is April 28 2017.
Q. Why Kapoor and Sons got so less screens? Even lesser than a women centric movies like Jai Gangaajal and Neerja?
A. It was given a perfect release. There is hardly any market for films like Kapoor & Sons at smaller centres. So at place where there is no demand, why supply?

A. Yes, Great Grand Masti has been postponed. A new release date will be announced after the Censor Board passes it.
Q. The genre of which move can attract a lot of crowd? Underworld Raees or biopic Sultan? Your point of view. – Piyush
A. It’s too early to comment on both the films. Let the trailers release. Both are commercial entertainers and Sultan is not a biopic.

A. Kapoor & Sons should do 50 plus.

Selection of questions could ve been better bt the answers were gud.
Still believe that if not400Cr then atleast PK’s highest domestic grosser record is brokable this year. PK wasn’t the best film of Raju-Aamir camp but better than most poor films of top stars that released in past like SRK’s HNY and Dilwale, hrithik’s bang bang and Salman’s PRDP. Bajrangi had best chance and had Drishyam and Baahubali not released at same time it was sure to break PK’s record and it completely desrved.
Top 4 of current the Khans and Hrithik are the only ones who can break Pk’s record and may even enter 400cr. Current year all these 4 are having atleast 1 release so there is a chance. But Shahrukh and Salman due to clash are very much out of equation. Though you should expect that Raees and Sultan’s both joint collection should touch 400Cr.
That left us with 2 stars. Aamir again is favourite. Christmas. Almost a month open before Hrithik and Ajay clash on 26th jan. So he has best chance.
Second best chance is Hrithik. Yes it has a clash but Rustom is very limited scope film. Also after houseful 3 Akshay will be be back again only after small gap of 2 months. People will surely want to watch Hrithik on big screen after 2 year rather than watching Akshay just after 2 months.
But again it was to be at par or even better than Bahubali. It will be important to create hype before release though. When Bahubali released almost every person in south had gone crazy over the film. They had seen the trailer read of the most expensive film ever made and were wanting to see it. Someway they gotta promote it like that. Catch the pulse of the audience. Trailer should make everyone go WOW. And if it does so I expect some release dates of already announced films to be changed otherwise they wont be getting good no. of screens if Mohenjo is appreciated like bahubali.
Lets see though what 2nd half of 2016 has in stores for us.
Any body can tell that a sports film will attract more people than an underworld film atleast before release. But as Srk fan you will not accept that.

Well to my little knowledge…5 Bollywood stars from 20 years above career wise has constituted 80% of box office trade. They constitute 83% of top 100 crs movies. They are always lined up with offers…One of them does 4 movies a year.. They are wishlist for any directors and they decide which movie they wish to do or do not.
Looking @current crops of youngsters I can guarantee none of them can make the impacts those 20 years and above bankable stars have achieved. infant I don’t see anyone surviving for 20 years and still controlling the trade industry.
