Update: The release date of Detective Byomkesh Bakshy, one of the most awaited Bollywood movies of 2015, has been pushed by 2 months. Reason: Cricket World Cup.
2014 has seen quite successful movies at the ticket window and the year is heading for a grand climax with Aamir Khan’s PK all set for a mega Christmas release. Although the record of ‘Dhoom 3’ (2013) is still safe, PK could surpass it if it manages to hit the right chords. The market for Hindi movies is growing worldwide and the biggies are awaited by one and all with bated breath. A plethora of big and interesting movies are waiting to hit the silver screens in 2015.
1. Bajrangi Bhaijaan (Eid 2015): 3 years after the super-success of ‘Ek Tha Tiger’, Salman Khan and Kabir Khan return with yet another entertainer during one of the most lucrative release periods in the industry. Salman also reunites with his ‘Bodyguard’ co-star Kareena Kapoor. The superstar hasn’t put a foot wrong during Eid and this mass-entertainer is our pick for the most anticipated movie of 2015.
2. Fan (August 14 2015): Shahrukh Khan is back in the Yash Raj Films camp with Maneesh Sharma’s ‘Fan’ slated for an Independence Day release. Everything about this movie has been kept under wraps except for the fact that SRK is playing the title role of a celebrity’s biggest ‘Fan’. Records aside, cinema lovers are expecting a special performance from SRK and a film that could receive critical acclaim as well as commercial success after two out-and-out mass-entertainers like Chennai Express and Happy New Year.
3. Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (Diwali 2015): Salman Khan and Sooraj Barjatya are reuniting after 16 years for the Diwali magnum opus ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’. This is their 4th grand collaboration after ‘Maine Pyaar Kiya’ (all time blockbuster), ‘Hum Aapke Hain Koun’ (all time blockbuster) and ‘Hum Saath Saath Hain’ (super hit). Sonam Kapoor will be playing the female lead in this Rajshri film with drama and family values. As expected, the makers couldn’t have picked a better time to release a film like Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, because it is during Diwali that the family audience come out in numbers to watch films. However, the fate of the film will be decided by the youth. Will they too come out in big numbers to watch the film? That’s the big question.
4. Tamasha (Christmas 2015): The charismatic pair of Ranbir Kapoor – Deepika Padukone is all set to sizzle on the silver screen once again after the blockbuster success of ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’. Imtiaz Ali is the most sought after director in tinsel town with a series of critically acclaimed successes like ‘Jab We Met’, ‘Love Aaj Kal’, ‘Rockstar’ and ‘Highway’. Even his first film ‘Socha Na Tha’ is remembered as a cult classic even though it didn’t do well commercially. The film also has music by A.R. Rehman.
5. Baby (January 23 2015): We have tremendously high expectations from ‘Baby’, not just because of Akshay Kumar, but because the film is directed by Neeraj Pandey of ‘A Wednesday’ and ‘Special 26’ fame. The film is set to hit screens on January 23, it will get the benefit of a long weekend with the Republic Day holiday falling on its first Monday. The film has a strong supporting star cast too.
6. Jagga Jasoos (August 28 2015): Anurag Basu extracted a performance of a lifetime from Ranbir Kapoor in ‘Barfi’ as the movie turned out to be one of the biggest surprise hits of 2012. The actor-director duo return with ‘Jagga Jasoos’. The inclusion of Katrina Kaif to the star-cast has further raised the prospects of this detective drama at the ticket window. It has to be noted that ‘Jagga Jasoos’ will be Ranbir and Katrina’s first film together after ‘Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahaani’ and ‘Raajneeti’.
7. Dil Dhadakne Do (June 5 2015): Zoya Akhtar’s last directorial venture ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’ is regarded as one of the finest movies of recent times. The makers have again managed to get an ensemble cast featuring Anil Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Farhan Akhtar, Priyanka Chopra and Anushka Sharma. Dil Dhadakne Do will release a week after the cricket tournament Indian Premiere League.
8. Bajirao Mastani (Christmas): Sanjay Leela Bhansali has finally green lighted his most ambitious project to date. Initially envisioned with Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai, Bhansali delayed the project indefinitely due to the personal differences of the two stars. He finally found his Salman and Aishwarya while filming ‘Ram Leela’. He was so impressed with Ranveer and Deepika that he has signed them on to make the film that is closest to his heart. The only problem the film faces is the fact that ‘Tamasha’ is also scheduled to release during Christmas. Since both films feature Deepika Padukone, a clash would be foolishness. Which film will move?
9. Brothers (July 31 2015): An official remake of Hollywood movie ‘Warrior’, ‘Brothers’ will feature Akshay Kumar and Siddharth Malhotra in the lead roles. The project is backed by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and will be helmed by Karan Malhotra of ‘Agneepath’ fame. The intense drama will hit the silver screen right in between the two biggest movie releases of 2015 – Bhajrangi Bhaijaan and Fan.
10. Bombay Velvet (May 15 2015): Anurag Kashyap is known for directing off-beat hard hitting movies. But this year he has decided to enter the commercial genre in a full-fledged entertainer titled ’Bombay Velvet’ featuring Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma along with Karan Johar as the main antagonist. The movie is set in Bombay from 1950s to 1970s and will hit the screens in May.
11. Gabbar (April 3 2015): Starring Akshay Kumar, the film is a remake of 2002 Tamil film ‘Ramanaa’. Shruti Haasan is playing the female lead while Prakash Raj, Sonu Sood and Nikitin Dheer will appear in supporting roles.
12. Singh Is Bling (October 2 2015): Cashing on the super success of the 2008 blockbuster ‘Singh Is King’, Akshay Kumar is back to play a role that is similar to the Anees Bazmee film. Directed by Prabhu Deva , ‘Singh Is Bling’ will feature ‘Heropanti’ star Kriti Sanon opposite Akshay and will release on Gandhi Jayanti.
13. Phantom (April 3 2015): Directed by Kabir Khan, ‘Phantom’ is about post-26/11 attacks in Mumbai and global terrorism. It’s produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and stars Saif Ali Khan and Katrina Kaif in lead roles. The movie is all set to clash with Gabaar in the first week of April.
14. Welcome Back: The film makes to the Top 15 because it is a sequel to one of the most successful films of 2007 – Akshay Kumar’s Welcome. The director Anees Bazmee returns to direct the sequel, but the audience will miss the outstanding comic timing of Akshay. ’Welcome Back’ has Nana Patekar and Anil Kapoor reprising their famous gangster roles. John Abraham and Shruti Haasan are new additions to the star-cast.
15. Piku: Deepika Padukone is playing the title role ‘Piku’ in this Shoojit Sircar’s comedy drama film. Sircar has raised the expectation level of audience with his last two movies ‘Vicky Donor’ and ‘Madras Cafe’. The legend himself Amitabh Bachchan and the super-talented Irrfan Khan have important roles to play.
Other keenly awaited movies of 2015 which have the potential to be on the list are – ‘Tevar’ (Arjun Kapoor, Sonakshi Sinha), ‘Shamitabh’ (Amitabh Bachchan, Dhanush), ’Roy’ (Ranbir Kapoor, Arjun Rampal, Jacqueline), ’Hamari Adhuri Kahani’ (Emraan Hashmi, Vidya Balan), ‘Detective Byomkesh Bakshi’ (Sushant Singh Rajput), ’Badlapur’ (Varun Dhawan) and ‘ABCD 2’ (Varun Dhawan, Shraddha Kapoor). There is Abhishek Bachchan’s ‘All Is Well’ directed by Umesh Shukhla who last directed OMG! Oh My God.
Three of the biggest stars will be missing from action in 2015, something that would come as a huge disappointment for their fans the Hindi film audience in general. No prizes for guessing though. Akshay Kumar completing two films and Aamir-Hrithik green-signalling the script of a film takes about the same amount of time. Ashutosh Gowariker’s ‘Mohenjo Daro’ will release in 2016 and Aamir Khan is yet to sign on the dotted line. Ajay Devgn will be working on his directorial venture ‘Shivay’, the release date of which hasn’t been confirmed by the makers (most likely to be 2016 January). Shahrukh’s Raees and his next with Rohit Shetty will both go on floors next year – but it remains to be seen if one of the two films will release next year. Do bookmark this page, we will update the table below with the latest releases of 2015 as soon as they are announced or changed!

Don’t cry! It doesn’t suit you at this age! Lol! If u wish, I will give u the award over to you like Akki did to Aamir in 2009! Fine??
Yes! It has been pretty obvious! Witnessed by all! A ferocious hater of HNY! Also I gave the reason here why I did that!
Yes, I am selfish! Even I have started to like Duggu more since he opened up about Salman on Bigg Boss! Every human is selfish, more or less!
But those who pretend to be neutral but backstab like u do are called treacherous!
At least some SRK fans like me because I am not an honest hater of his, not treacherous n cunning like you.
Hit the nerve, babaji?? Ehhh! Ah! Hahaha

Casted a vote for Fan, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, PRDP, Baby and Tamasha and all of em are in top 6 with Fan topping the charts with a long long margin. Expecting an acting bonanza from SRK forgetting collection apart aside and relive old days of Chak De India, MNIK etc and with PRDP, its time to relive days of HAHK <3 2015, you beauty!

PK Music Review
By Rafat, Glamsham Editorial
It is almost sacrilegious to talk about the expectations from the team of (undoubtedly) the best director-producer team, Rajkumar Hirani and Vidhu Vinod Chopra, along with composer Shantanu Moitra and lyricist Swanand Kirkire, who in 2012 gave us the biggest all time grosser/ blockbuster of Hindi films, 3 IDIOTS. So without beating about the bush and bhaisting time let’s check out history in the making, the audio of PK.
It’s indeed a lively, colourful and feel good start that ‘Tharki Chokro’ provides through its superb Rajasthani folk based tune and brass band arrangements. Ajay and Atul are spot on! Swaroop Khan renders the song well but sounds like Sukhwinder Singh. The lyrics and the song sum up the theme of the film in an exact way and also provide a sketch of the character of the lead protagonist.
Lovely guitar strings and violins commence ‘Nanga Punga Dost’, another very lively and cute song that thrives on its superb rhythm, which is trademark Shantanu Moitra. The childlike innocence as well as intelligence of the lead protagonist who shakes up the universe with his questions is expressed well through the lyrics. Shreya Ghoshal is just superb.
Another excellent number that lingers on long after the song is over is the Kishore Da type love ballad, ‘Chaar Kadam’ or one can even call it a friendship or companionship song. It’s a Shaan show all the way and he excels. Shreya comes in briefly but leaves an impression. The chorus too is catchy.
Jaltarang sounds and mouth organ commence ‘Love Is A waste Of Time’ sung par excellence (mind the intentional wrong diction, bhaste of time!) by Sonu Nigam with support in brief by Shreya. The nursery rhyme type tune surely carries a universal appeal just like ‘Zoobie Zoobie’ did in 3 IDIOTS. The Bhojpuri dialect is well expressed and lyrics are too cute and certainly identifiable.
A prayer to the almighty, ‘Bhagwan Hai Kahan Re Tu’ to show the path home is sung with emotions by Sonu Nigam. A song that is nationalism personified (has shades of ‘Jaane Nahin Denge Tumhe’ 3 IDIOTS) and expresses the lead protagonist’s belief in all religions and its dictums (yet he is an agnostic) is situational in nature and it leaves the listener moist eyed. Kudos to all – Sonu, Shantanu and Swanand!
‘PK Dance Theme’ is a lively instrumental that carries the signature tune of the movie PK which is played with different heightened tempo.
Ankit Tiwari rounds of the album with an ace of a romantic number (music-Ankit), ‘Dar Badar’. Ankit’s rock star rendition and superb arrangements coupled with good lyrics (Manoj), express the intense feelings of the character and are the highlights of the track.
History is certainly about to repeat itself for the Hirani-Aamir team. The audio of PK has surely and truly lived up to its humongous expectations and one can congratulate team PK in advance for its excellent musical offering. All the songs are endearing and if one has to pick it will be ‘Chaar Kadam’, ‘Love Is A Waste Of Time’ and ‘Bhagwan Hai Kahan Re Tu’. Considering that the music is situational in nature yet is universally appealing, will surely prove chartbusting, more so after the release of PK, to an earth shattering response on 19th December 2014.
