The top actors in the industry are the men who drive the industry. Without them the star-driven Hindi film industry would struggle for its very existence.
For some unknown reason, the industry hasn’t been able to produce too many bankable stars in the last few years. Four of the current Top 5 actors, made their debut before before 1993. Since then, only Hrithik Roshan has managed to make it to the ‘superstar’ league and even he made his debut 16 years ago.
Fortunately, in the last few years, actors like Varun Dhawan, Ranbir Kapoor and Ranveer Singh have shown a lot of promise and along with the likes of Arjun Kapoor and Sidharth Malhotra, these younger generation actors could well be the superstars of the future.
Akshay Kumar – Salman Khan – Shah Rukh Khan
Akshay Kumar has been the most prolific actor over the years. He started his career with low-budget films, a lot of them borderline B-grade, but the superstar has never let failures affect him. The result? Akshay is one of the top actors in the industry today and holds the record for the highest career collections. The total collections of all his 106 movies currently stands at Rs 2781 crore.
The second best is the megastar himself, the numero uno star in the industry today. A 28-year-long career that has seen depressing lows to incredible never-before-witnessed heights. Salman Khan’s 73 movies have contributed Rs 2648 crore to the industry.
With films like Housefull 3, Rustom and Sultan, it’ll be interesting to see which actor becomes the first to cross the Rs 3000 crore mark.
At No 3 is the incredible Shah Rukh Khan, arguably the only actor in the industry to have a career of more than 2 decades, without having to go through prolonged periods of failures. His success ratio is the highest and almost all his films have taken a good opening at the box office.
Ajay Devgn – Aamir Khan – Hrithik Roshan
Ajay Devgn is ahead of Aamir Khan and the only reason for this is the big difference in the number of films that they have done. Aamir currently holds the record for the best average (per film) for actors who made their debut before 2000.
Hrithik Roshan averages 60 crore per film, which is excellent for an actor who made his debut 16 years ago. Varun Dhawan’s average is the overall best (84 crore per film), but it shouldn’t be compared to actors who made their debut before 2010.

If SRK would have done 106 films then the average per film would have only 20 crs. he survived bcz he did only less films.
Aamir khan, look at his career as compared to other actors, truely a gem of an actor, In 28ers long career, he did 39 movies, n perhaps the only actor with a very few flops in almost 3 decade film career
This article doesnt make any sense. Aamir has done least number of films and on that basis you are putting him below srk Salman and who is akshay ajay? They are not even near the shoes of megastar himself I.e. The numero uno star of the millenium AAMIR KHAN. Aamir is baap of srk, Salman and all others. His name is enough to shatter all records. Darr was offered to Aamir but he didnt do it.
Aamir predicted it would create problems amidst the co-actors in the film. And it did.
And who was the reigning superstar of the time? Sunny Deol! It was his stardom that helped Darr to become a Hit or Super Hit.
Meoww bhai was nothing but chuha to get brutally bashed up by Sunny Paaji.. Now he is a big star, thats why Darr is credited more to him.
Similarly, Yash johar was a popular director even before KKHH. And KJo said ‘KKHH would have been a failure or not have been such a big hit without Salman.’

Salman ,Akshay and SRK are more or less like Sachin ,Dravid and Ganguly of Indian cinema their combined collections being a whooping nearly 7500 crores! more than half of all the collections of others on the list.

Khans are biggest superstars of Bollywood but one can not deny the fact that aamir is biggest of them all. Because he holds the record of most number of ATBBs most consistent of delivering more than 3 Cr foot falls and most number of ATHGs despite doing only 39 films in his career. And that’s not easy at all. And in terms of consistency he is out of reach for other superstars. Talaash was a neo psychological suspense thriller still it crossed 95 Cr which is not a cup of tea at all. I can assure no one else could have made talaash cross 90 Cr except for aamir. It was only aamir who had guts to do so.

I’m akki fan but ajay wouldn’t of survived as a hero if he had flop career. 2000 era his hit ratio declined because he did mostly non commercial films. But had good number of above average success.
Comparisons should be only between Salman, SRK, Akshay, Ajay, Saif. It is very unfair to compare and include new generation stars like Ranveer, Ranbir and Varun in such a list. Reason being they have the advantage of high number of screens and higher ticket prices which is taking their collection per movie average beyond Superstars’ average. Imagine if movies like Karan Arjun, Mohra, HDDCS, Pardes had released now how much money it would have earned.
Aamir and Hrithik cannot be compared due to the less number of movies they have done. Still it is commendable that despite making debut 16 years ago Hrithik still have an average of 60 crs per movie. Aamir is not part of league when comes to choosing movies, he has set his own trend with the kind of movies and dedications towards his work. Also Akshay and Salman deserve the all the bucks and success because doing more number of movies also involves more chances of failures and they both never hesitated to work with different or less known directors without caring about outcome. SRK also did few movies with less known directors but he became choosy and formed a camp with YRF/Dharma (before 2004) to avoid failures !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ajay Devgan deserves more success hopefully his upcoming movies will help him climb the ranking !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Aamir all the way- despite so few movies his filmography still possesses the more memorable films that will stand the test of time.
Sarfarosh the other day was on TV and still it was a great watch after so many yrs of not seeing it.
Sad truth about Joker Boy is that out of 106 or so maha craps one can count on the fingers of 1 hand the number of memorable films he has done which were solely bcoz of him- my fav gobbar movie is still MOHRA but I put that down as an entire cast driven movie inc Gulshan Grovers “dirty mind” dialogue delivery…!
