The top actors in the industry are the men who drive the industry. Without them the star-driven Hindi film industry would struggle for its very existence.
For some unknown reason, the industry hasn’t been able to produce too many bankable stars in the last few years. Four of the current Top 5 actors, made their debut before before 1993. Since then, only Hrithik Roshan has managed to make it to the ‘superstar’ league and even he made his debut 16 years ago.
Fortunately, in the last few years, actors like Varun Dhawan, Ranbir Kapoor and Ranveer Singh have shown a lot of promise and along with the likes of Arjun Kapoor and Sidharth Malhotra, these younger generation actors could well be the superstars of the future.
Akshay Kumar – Salman Khan – Shah Rukh Khan
Akshay Kumar has been the most prolific actor over the years. He started his career with low-budget films, a lot of them borderline B-grade, but the superstar has never let failures affect him. The result? Akshay is one of the top actors in the industry today and holds the record for the highest career collections. The total collections of all his 106 movies currently stands at Rs 2781 crore.
The second best is the megastar himself, the numero uno star in the industry today. A 28-year-long career that has seen depressing lows to incredible never-before-witnessed heights. Salman Khan’s 73 movies have contributed Rs 2648 crore to the industry.
With films like Housefull 3, Rustom and Sultan, it’ll be interesting to see which actor becomes the first to cross the Rs 3000 crore mark.
At No 3 is the incredible Shah Rukh Khan, arguably the only actor in the industry to have a career of more than 2 decades, without having to go through prolonged periods of failures. His success ratio is the highest and almost all his films have taken a good opening at the box office.
Ajay Devgn – Aamir Khan – Hrithik Roshan
Ajay Devgn is ahead of Aamir Khan and the only reason for this is the big difference in the number of films that they have done. Aamir currently holds the record for the best average (per film) for actors who made their debut before 2000.
Hrithik Roshan averages 60 crore per film, which is excellent for an actor who made his debut 16 years ago. Varun Dhawan’s average is the overall best (84 crore per film), but it shouldn’t be compared to actors who made their debut before 2010.

I adore Hrithik however I will give special praise to the top 5 senior actors here keeping in view the long innings they have played so successfully.
SRK (debut in 1992), Salman (debut as hero in 1989 ), Ajay (debut in 1991), Akshay (debut as lead actor in 1991) and Amir (debut as hero in 1988) have truly been the “LAMBI RACE KAI GHORAI”. All have their unique strengths and weaknesses but all are truly great superstars. Amazing to see them surviving all these 25 years and still doing so well. So many actors have come and gone but they are still there today delivering big hits. Other than Hrithik (who is himself now a senior) cant think of any other today’s star giving them any real competition.
Eventually time will catch up and they will be replaced with new stars but I dont think the current lot of stars will be anywhere be able to match the 25 years era (and still continuing) of these 5 great stars. So relish and enjoy as long as they are there.
I guess Hrithik and Amir will make around only 50 movies in life time

Sunny ajay was successful hero before rohit shetty. Most of his successful movies he was the lead hero, be it dilwale, pak, jaan, pthht. Rohit debuted with a successful hero. Ajay doesn’t carry the superstar swagger ofscreen but had good screen presence as angry young man.
Ajay is miles ahead of saif, most of saifs successful films he plays supporting hero role.
