For music lovers, 2014 was a fantastic year with quite a few songs that topped the charts for weeks. While the music albums of big films disappointed, smaller films were helped immensely by chartbuster music.
Music plays a very important role in the success of Bollywood films. A popular song can sometimes result in films with hardly any face-value taking huge opening at the box office. Take for example ‘Galliyan’ from ‘Ek Villain’. The popularity of the song helped the film open at around the same level as Salman Khan’s Jai Ho.
Best Hindi Songs of 2014 – Top 20 List
The songs in ‘Yaariyaan’ and ‘Ragini MMS’ (Baby Doll) were also the biggest factors behind the box office success of the two films.
On the other hand, there are songs like ‘Samjhawan’ from ‘Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania’ that didn’t really top the charts prior to the film’s release, but gained in popularity post release.
For the top spot, it was between ‘Samjhawan’ and ‘Galliyan’, but the latter edged ahead because of its originality.

@zeeshan,Last year CE music didn’t deserve any nomination,still it got nominated. I won’t be shocked if HNY album will be included this year too.

I basically not listen music of current time, I still love to listen of 90s, early 20s or old era.

The yr started with a fab song in Sunny Sunny so that is my first pick from your list. No real notable love song this year- not a good yr on that front- magic of Tum Hi Ho (2013) was absent this yr- will listen to afew songs from above list again so thanks Indicine but nothing stayed with me tbh.
Other notable nominees from me are Hangover, D Se Dance (humpty) and Jashn e Ishqa (Gunday)…!

Not sure why Tu Meri is there as it was an annoying song repeatedly saying Tu Meri in every single verse aswell as chorus but the Title Track Bang Bang was way better and as a visual treat- it was hotness personified- Kat at her best and Jaadoo Boys dance steps were his best in recent times….! Haa Main Alcoholic Hoon was also another notable song in the biopic of kshitij sriWastevar (babuji)- loved that song but missed babujis presence in his own biopic cos Piyush Mishra was terrible in his attempts at being treacherous- not as near as good as babuji…!
