Only 21 performances in Hindi films have won the National Award for Best Actor. Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan has won the most number of awards for his performance in films like Agneepath, Black and Paa.
Sanjeev Kumar, Om Puri, Naseeruddin Shah and Ajay Devgn are the only actors to win 2 awards each.
The iconic trio of Shahrukh Khan, Salman Khan and Aamir Khan have never won a National Award. Shahrukh came close in 2003, but his performance in Swades was overlooked and Saif Ali Khan’s performance in Hum Tum was declared the winner.

Hrithik Roshan too was expected to win the National Award for his incredible act in Koi Mil Gaya, but Tamil actor Vikram won the award that year for his film Pithamagan.
Aamir has probably been the unluckiest of the lot when it comes to National Awards.

Two people in the above list were not deserving at all. One is Saif for Hum Tum, another is Anil Kapoor for Pukaar.

Aamir won special jury national award for best actor for film Raakh in 1989..
He didn’t win for Rangeela , dat time kamal haasan won for Indian ..
He didn’t win for Sarfarosh dat time jury decided to gave to Anil kapoor.. He didn’t win for LAGAAN AND RDB also.. That’s shocking…biased awards..corrupted awards.. Srk didn’t win for swadesh and they gave to saif for hum tum..lol..best movie providing wholesome entertainment – mary kom instead of PK.. ROFL.. National awards becomes national joke

Aamir, hrithik should have won atleast 1.

Hopefully both will in future will get 1, may be for there upcoming projects Mohejo-Daro and Dangal.

National award does not matters as hrithik deserved it in the year 2003,2010 and 2012 and shahid deserved it this year.No awards are fair

National award is way more credible than than fake filmfare award.in case of filmfare award-salman should have won for tere nam and dabangg instead of hr and srk.srk should not have won for dtph.he should have won for don instead of hr.aamir should have won numerous times.only saif is undeserving in case of national awards.also i want to know if national awards have nominations or not.however even winning oscars cant determine who is better actor between winner and non winner.keep aside johnny depp,leonardo di caprio can u believe the fact gary oldman and ralph fiennes have not scored oscar yet.

People arguing why Leo Dicaprio didn’t win an Oscar. The answer is simple every single year some other actor gave a better performance than him. He didnt deserve to win it in any year that he was nominated. Oscar goes to who gave the best performance of the year, not how many times he is nominated.
