Action movies are all the rage lately in Bollywood and almost every top star has featured in one massy-action film.
But who is the best action hero in Bollywood today? Here are the nominees.
- Akshay Kumar – The Khiladi! Need we say more? From being written off by the critics at the beginning of the year, Akshay has once again emerged as a box-office force to be reckoned with. Housefull 2 and Rowdy Rathore are two of the biggest grossers of 2012.
- Salman Khan – Unarguably enjoying the best phase of his career, Salman has only done action-masala films in the last couple of years. This year too, he has two similar films lined up for release – Ek Tha Tiger and Dabangg 2. Is he the best action hero in Bollywood today?
- Shahrukh Khan – He’s the king of romance, but SRK has also excelled as an action hero. In the last decade, the superstar has featured in action films like Don, Ra One and to a certain extent Main Hoon Na.
- Hrithik Roshan – Almost every time Hrithik has done action, his films have been hugely successful at the box-office. Dhoom 2, Krrish and this year’s Agneepath.
- Aamir Khan – It’s Aamir who started the trend of South Indian action remakes with Ghajini. Next year, he returns as an action hero with Dhoom 3.
- Ajay Devgan – He started his career with action, then did some serious films and returned last year to cash-in on the trend. Singham was one of the biggest hits of his career.
- John Abraham – The turning point in John’s career was the first film in the Dhoom series way back in 2004. Since then, the actor has appeared in just one action film Force.
Other actors who deserve a mention, but haven’t delivered a solo action hit in a long time – Amitabh Bachchan, Sunny Deol, Sanjay Dutt, Dharmendra, Jackie Shroff and many more. Each actor a legend, but including these names would be unfair, as they probably won’t get enough votes.

Rowdy Rathore total collection after 5 days is 65.5 crore nett all India. Rowdy Rathore first week collection now certain to reach 77-78 crore nett all India.

After Shahrukh Khan, its now time for Salman vs Shirish Kunder!
The Shahrukh Khan-Shirish Kunder fight is a history now, but the effect of it possibly still gives Mr Kunder some goosebumps. If reports are to believed, after SRK, Shirish is now keeping a safe distance from Salman Khan.
It’s a known fact, Shirish Kunder’s upcoming release Joker is all set to release on September 14, 2012. But, many of us is unknown about the fact that the initial date for the film’s release was actually in August earlier. But, Daily Bhaskar reports that Kunder had earlier decided to postpone the release dating owing to Salman’s Ek Tha Tiger.
Rumours say that Shirish is aware of Salman’s fan following. Hence, releasing Joker along with Ek Tha Tiger, might turn a huge loss for Shirish’s film. Shirish tweeted, “To all Salman & Akshay fans who had requested me to shift the release date of #JOKER away from Ek tha Tiger, I hope you are happy now (sic).” It looks Shirish is not ready to take panga with Sallu bhai. Well Shirish, it’s good that learnt a lesson from SRK, else The Salman Khan heat is just intolerable.
Asin kicks out Nargis from Khiladi 786
Has the Khiladi 786 team finally found the suitable female lead for the film? If the buzz is to be believed Asin is roped into play the female lead in it. Nargis Fakri, the Rockstar lady was the first choice for this movie.
As per the script, Nargis will have to play sister to Mithun Chakravarthy in this movie. Nargis didn’t suit that part and the makers have been in search of suitable replacement. Asin has been reportedly approached for the role.
Asin paired up with Akshay Kumar in successful Houseful 2 film and hence she is immediately okayed by Akshay and co says the buzz. Asin says that the production house will make it official.
Asin to play Mithun’s sister in a new movie
After Nargis Fakhri was given the marching orders from Akshay Kumar’s next film, word is that Asin has been roped in for the same role. The reason why Nargis was ousted was because she didn’t look ‘the part’ of Mithun’s sister.
The grapevine is abuzz with news that the makers now have found a perfect replacement for Nargis.
Asin apparently has been signed for the same role, thanks to her ‘earthy’ looks. And since debuting in Ghajini, this will be the actress’ sixth film in Bollywood.
Asin’s father who handles her work tells us, “It would be better if you ask the production house to confirm”. Both Asin and the producers remained unavailable for comment.
