Action movies are all the rage lately in Bollywood and almost every top star has featured in one massy-action film.
But who is the best action hero in Bollywood today? Here are the nominees.
- Akshay Kumar – The Khiladi! Need we say more? From being written off by the critics at the beginning of the year, Akshay has once again emerged as a box-office force to be reckoned with. Housefull 2 and Rowdy Rathore are two of the biggest grossers of 2012.
- Salman Khan – Unarguably enjoying the best phase of his career, Salman has only done action-masala films in the last couple of years. This year too, he has two similar films lined up for release – Ek Tha Tiger and Dabangg 2. Is he the best action hero in Bollywood today?
- Shahrukh Khan – He’s the king of romance, but SRK has also excelled as an action hero. In the last decade, the superstar has featured in action films like Don, Ra One and to a certain extent Main Hoon Na.
- Hrithik Roshan – Almost every time Hrithik has done action, his films have been hugely successful at the box-office. Dhoom 2, Krrish and this year’s Agneepath.
- Aamir Khan – It’s Aamir who started the trend of South Indian action remakes with Ghajini. Next year, he returns as an action hero with Dhoom 3.
- Ajay Devgan – He started his career with action, then did some serious films and returned last year to cash-in on the trend. Singham was one of the biggest hits of his career.
- John Abraham – The turning point in John’s career was the first film in the Dhoom series way back in 2004. Since then, the actor has appeared in just one action film Force.
Other actors who deserve a mention, but haven’t delivered a solo action hit in a long time – Amitabh Bachchan, Sunny Deol, Sanjay Dutt, Dharmendra, Jackie Shroff and many more. Each actor a legend, but including these names would be unfair, as they probably won’t get enough votes.

Hey guys. Lalo kahn was flop actor for almost 10 years. i will point to some of his biggest disasters of most recent time. GTGH, Yoraj,Veer,My aur Mrs Khana. Heros. Kyunki. and many other. now let me remind you something. most of akshay kumar’s movies recover their cost and even opened to record numbers. for example. Tees mar khan had the best opening of it’s time. Kambakht ishq also opened very well. de da na dan also had very good opening. remember a superstar can only guarantee a huge opening at the box office the rest depend on the story and other thing. you guys can see the collections of those movie at the box office India, now see all Lalo khan’s films non of the took average start at the box office and all of the disasters

Remake rat race: Shah Rukh Khan all set to star in 2002 Tamil action blockbuster Ramanaa
With Salman Khan having reaped it rich with Wanted, a remake of the Tamil blockbuster Pokkiri, and Akshay Kumar making a compelling comeback with last week’s Rowdy Rathore, rehashed from the Telugu superhit Vikramarkudu, it is now SRK’s turn to capitalise on the hit formula of Bollywood-ising a South Indian hit.
Shah Rukh will star in the remake of the 2002 Tamil action blockbuster Ramanaa. The film was directed by A. Murugadoss, who made his directorial debut in Bollywood with Aamir Khan’s Ghajini.
But it is not yet clear if Murugadoss, who had helmed the original Tamil Ghajini as well in 2005, has been roped in for the Hindi version of Ramanaa.
This is the first time in his 20-year career that SRK will star in the remake of a South Indian action film. The genre, loaded with typically loud violence and melodrama, is popularly called the Madras Cut in film circles.
The Ramanaa remake will, incidentally, be produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who has just tasted success with the remake formula as the producer of Rowdy Rathore. Unconfirmed buzz doing the rounds suggests that Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan may be making her comeback with this film.
Ramanaa is the story of a professor who wants to erase corruption with the help of his ex-students. Tamil superstar Vijaykanth played the protagonist in the original with Simran as the female lead.
Shah Rukh has reportedly been keen on the film’s remake for a long time now. But it took him some time to decide in favour of the project because he had another remake – that of Gautham Menon’s 2006 Tamil hit Vettaiyaadu Vilayaadu – in the works as well.
However, Menon’s film, starring Kamal Haasan, is a sophisticated crime thriller, and sources said SRK was keen to do a remake loaded with South Indian masala because the genre is currently working well with audiences.
